That looks really awesome! Kind of like GTA in reverse.

What car controller are you using, if you don't mind me asking?

Hey thanks guys!

@Parapsycho
I use my own car controller made with Playmaker, building this game I released an asset Car Setup for Playmaker (http://hutonggames.com/playmakerforum/index.php?topic=9023.0). The base is similar as this asset with some changes and multiplayer.

Hi, an update with AI traffic that reacts to sirens and gives way to the correct side depending player's position.

Reduced speed on lights; give way on siren; stop on secondary siren.
AI yield to speed signs on the map.

The inside looks nice :)

The outside looks a bit plain

Maybe you can make the windows next to the double door bigger or add some billboards or signboards.

and on the side wall maybe a signboard saying for example "No Parking, police vehicles only"

Indeed it needs more props, for now I am short on outdoor stuff, it will grow with details when I put it in the map with roads, signs, lamp posts etc.
Also AC cooler boxes in the works 8)

Yes,

Nice!

A lot of improvement in animations.

Maybe add some animations when asking an id (AI taking it from his pocket to give to the police)

The particles of the fire extinguisher don't look good to me.

The interaction when hitting things look good and are a big + to a game like this.

Are you planning to add voices?

Keep up the great work :D i can't wait to play this ^^
Title: Re: Flashing Lights [Steam Greenlit]
Post by: 600 on May 03, 2017, 04:10:07 AM
Thanks djaydino!

AI giving ID animation is in my library actually, will have to plan some time to add these little features as they got missed when creating the overall systems.

About fire extinguisher I agree with you, those are default water particles and the extinguisher should have some sort of foams coming out. for now I’m happy that it works  :D

Voices… I wish! Not sure how to plan that as then I would need many different voices saying the same phrases for various situations. I am considering to put my voice as placeholders for now, but I have to cross the personal barrier hearing myself in audio + foreign english ;D
Title: Re: Flashing Lights [Steam Greenlit]
Post by: djaydino on May 03, 2017, 03:01:02 PM
Hi,
Maybe when you start to have some income on it you can add them then.
(and prepare coding already so it is easy to implement)
For me that makes it a lot more fun to play a game.

on fiver (https://www.fiverr.com/categories/music-audio/voice-overs?source=side-menu) you can find a lot of people doing voice overs for decent prices.

and if you want i can do some :D
i am also not native English but i can try :)
or i can do some in Dutch and/or German :D

I'm happy to announce the Flashing Lights are now in cooperation with Excalibur Games! Their core focus is within simulations and they have worked with some great games including Jalopy, Euro Truck Simulator, Flight Simulator and Train Simulator. With their help we hope to deliver a higher quality game than I had originally planned. With their support and the community's involvement, I feel that we will make a great game together!

Hello everyone,

The last few weeks I’ve been hard at work on the game to implement new features, tidy up some of the visuals and have also began working with Excalibur to produce a new trailer for the game.

The new trailer was recorded entirely online via a multiplayer match across several households and countries. We’ve found that the connection has been stable during these tests, but of course located several bugs and issues which we are going to resolve before its launch on Steam. Some of these issues were funny, so we may release an out takes video as well!

The trailer will be made live to coincide with the games steam page launching. I will let you all know when this happens so you can join the new discussion board and help me with your feedback and suggestions.

For now, here are a couple of screenshots which were captured during my online recording session with Excalibur.

I hope you all are as excited to watch the new trailer as I am to release it. More news to come soon, stay tuned!

Hello Everyone,

I’ve been working on Flashing Lights in the background towards a pretty big reveal which will go live in just under 24 hours. I know that the content updates have been a little quiet for the past month but after tomorrow you’ll see why!

We’re going to be a bit more open, post more frequently and share more often very soon. But here’s a small tease on some of the progress I’ve been making since I last posted. I hope you enjoy it!

I’ll be making another post tomorrow of course, but if you want to be alerted via E-mail of any news do visit the website below:

Thank you for your patience and support. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Hi,
Time to share some screenshots of new open world for Early Access next year. Still work in progress and will get expanded and added more islands in time. Currently the land part is 3,5km x 3,5km.
So finally it will be without borders. Can’t wait to tackle water system that will disable and sink vehicles, perhaps simple swimming for characters also.

Those roads look really nice, I'm considering getting EasyRoads3D pro, it's just the price that is putting me off really.

I tried the free version but it was very limited and awkward to use, I assume the full version will be easier to use and more polished.

I gave you a vote btw. :)

EasyRoads3D free pack is version 2. But the paid ER version is 3rd (https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/#!/content/469?aid=1100lGnz) and have lots more features and is better in general. I recommend it, if it meets your project needs.
For this last map, 6th attempt, I stopped using it. All road network is made in Blender because of technical requirements for my AI and maintaining the map for years. Previous maps some had EasyRoads as is in the scene, some I exported as .obj and edited in Blender when started to mess with AI. Lots of things changing over time so now I decided to manually align terrain.

Interesting,

The roads in my own project would be purely cosmetic, I'm planning on having at least one city level so thought that using ER would be something of a time saver. Being a solo developer I'm always looking to save as much time as possible wherever I can, but budget is also a major consideration.

With EasyRoads it is faster and convenient the terrain alignment. Also when need to edit the road network, for example, moving an intersection all connected roads adjust.

After reading your posts I decided to have a go at making my own roads in my 3D modelling software (I'm using Softimage XSI which is sadly now defunct  :( ), and I'm quite pleased with the results so far but I forsee a few issues further down the line so I'm just wondering how you went about constructing your roads.

Did you create your road network as a single mesh ?

I made my roads as a set of tiles - one tile for a straight section, one for a curve and another for a junction etc.and then put them together in the editor, but I can see how this might be a problem later on if and when I start to vary the terrain height. So I was wondering how you went about making your roads as they look so nice.

Made in Blender as separate parts because of culling and single mesh for bigger maps will exceed Unity vertex limit.
Can model some dirt or grass part for roads similar as terrains texture to blend with terrain and wouldn't need to adjust it by very small values.

Did you open a Unit connect page for this? I mean let alone the fact you are using PlayMaker, the quality is outstanding.

I like the grainy aspect, is it in purpose or from the recording?

Thanks, the grain effect is only from gif compression, but indeed looks good in this size :D
