When i give my enemy a collider, my character always runs on top of it.

Hi,
in the Collider Component you can Check 'Is Trigger' then it will trigger on enter but will not collide, meaning you can walk thru it :) but still register that you hit it

hmm my guess would be that the way the character's collider is being moved forces him to occupy the same space as the enemy and since that doesn't work it forces him on top

Sorry a was a bit to quick going thru the post, just ignore my last post :)
If you have a character controller, you might want to play around with your slope limit.
Or
You could also try to add a 'navmesh obstacle' on the enemy and place it on top.
