EDIT: Jean Fabre has a better guide to working around this Asset Store bug here (https://hutonggames.com/playmakerforum/index.php?topic=20177).
If you have errors with a fresh install from the Asset Store you may be running into this Asset Store bug:
The Unity Asset Store does not properly keep track of which version an asset was downloaded for. For example, if you run Unity 2018.3 and download Playmaker you get the version for 2018.3. If you now open Unity 2017.4 and import Playmaker, the Asset Store will try to import the 2018.3 version and you will get errors!
To fix this, you have to manually re-download PlayMaker when you switch Unity versions. The new Asset Store UI does not make this easy, but you can switch to Shop on Old Store in the Asset Store settings. Then go to the Download Manager, find Playmaker and manually download it again.
Alternatively, you can delete the Asset Store cache (find Hutong Games LLC to just delete Playmaker):

Sorry for the inconvenience! We reported this bug to Unity quite some time ago, and they were able to reproduce it, but we're still waiting on a fix...

So I updated to 2019.1 and updated playmaker and got 1.9.0.p16, and ran into some issues with building and a recommendation was to downgrade my project to 2018.2.20f1 and so I did. I deleted the cached playmaker file from ~/Library/Unity/Asset Store-5.x/Hutong Games LLC/ Editor Extensions/Playmaker.unitypackage and redownloaded from the asset store and i got 1.9.0 but I am still getting the same error as I did on 1.9.0.p16.

Did you follow the steps on this page:
https://hutonggames.com/playmakerforum/index.php?topic=20177
What issues did you run into with building? Is there a thread you can point me to?

The 3 dots to escape to the old asset store no longer exists.
Here are some posts to the Unloading Broken Assembly PlayMakerEditor.dll error, but they are all unresolved

My issue is gradle prewarm when exporting an android build. Here are the threads.

I've tried changing the android manifest, changing android SDK to 28.0.2, 28.0.3, 29.0.0.-rc1, 29.0.0.-rc2, 29.0.0.-rc3
I also looked through this: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/android-gradle-troubleshooting.html but since building worked before upgrading, I doubt that anything new/duplicate has been added.

Man their web programmer SUCKS BADLY!
The AS is terribly slow and the interface is surely not immediate, quick and friendly.
One of the worst (top level) stores I've ever seen.
-
I was able to 'fix' it by just using 2019.1 or higher when creating a new project. If I import my existing project it has random errors.

Hi.
Ye the new store search engine is bad as well
way less hits than there should be.
it works even better just to search on google in some cases.
Now the old store is gone, you need to remove the PlayMaker asset manually and redownload.
Here is where you can find the folder :
- macOS: ~/Library/Unity/Asset Store
- Windows: C:\Users\accountName\AppData\Roaming\Unity\Asset Store

Quoted for truth.

Yeah, the unity3d.com link is definitely gone. But they still have left the option "revert to old store" in the lower right, at the bottom of the page.
Loads nothing tho lol. ;D
-
Hi,
AHH, that's where they've put the "return to old store"... I thought they removed it all together.
Bye,
Jean

Hi.
Me to, i thought is was gone.
Main reason i still like to use the old store is that there is a delete option.
