Title: A few UI requests
Post by: vonpixel on January 06, 2013, 12:47:35 AM
Recently, I've been teaching someone how to use playmaker (even though I'm still learning as I go) and  I had a few thoughts about the UI.

I mocked up a screen shot to illustrate.

Its basically just organizational things like identifying the # of FSMs on objects in the hierachy view and in the FSM menu in the play maker window.

The other suggestion is having the option of color coding the headlines of actions in the state window, kind of like in the state machine window.

It would be cool too if you could look at multiple FSMs or all of them at the same time. Maybe have different colored lines for events travelling between FSMs? That might not be useful actually, but having the possibility of seeing all the FSMs on an object playing at once would be nice.

Thats about it! Thanks for making such an amazing program.

I would LOVE to see color coding too. +1 on that! :)

Currently the action titlebar is colored to indicate if the action is selected.

Do you have any ideas on how to show selection state with color coded actions? A mockup would be great :)

Maybe this would work? More or less, highlighting is the same, but body is updated?

Color coding is cool but definitely don't do it as shown in the last mockup, that would make me wish to go color blind.

Selection can just adjust to a darker or lighter shade of the same color, and the back ground windows stay normal gray, just color code the headline.

Yeah I think leaving just the headers colored would be easier on the eyes.
