Title: Supporting Windows Phone and Windows 8?
Post by: RobDaPraia on April 20, 2013, 06:26:41 AM
At the moment Unity has started Unity 4 Beta program for Windows Phone 8 apps and Windows 8.

See:
http://blogs.unity3d.com/2013/03/27/unity-4-beta-program-for-windows-phone-apps/ (http://blogs.unity3d.com/2013/03/27/unity-4-beta-program-for-windows-phone-apps/)
http://blogs.unity3d.com/2013/03/07/unity-4-early-access-for-windows-store-apps/ (http://blogs.unity3d.com/2013/03/07/unity-4-early-access-for-windows-store-apps/)

Would love to make games with Playmaker for Wndows Phone and Windows 8, but unfortunately the current Unity 4 Beta WP8 does not work together with Playmaker to deploy game to phone.

Will you support Playmaker for Windows Phone/Windows 8? They would be happy to have you on the group and help with any issues.

Just want to add my voice, I would also like to see support for Windows Phone 8 / Windows 8.

Is there a plan / timeline for an update to support these platforms?

Hi,

Can you copy paste the errors you get? That will help providing useful feedback and address them issues.

Thanks,

 Jean

Hi,

Can you confirm you are using "set property" and/or "get property" action?

can you try publishing a dummy scene, with nothing at all, just with playmaker in the project assets and see if you still get errors?

bye,

 Jean

Reflection support has changed in Windows Phone and Windows 8.

You will need special versions of Playmaker for those platforms.

We're working on them... :)

yes,I try this before, just let playmaker folder alone in the project, and create a cube in the scene and build that ,it also can't work.

Hi,

And with the latest news that MicroSoft and Unity are partners, this is going to be quite something!

The next Playmaker beta will have builds for Blackberry, Windows Store, and Windows Phone 8. Assuming the beta goes smoothly we should be ready to release these alongside Unity 4.2.

I'm curious about the progress. Is this close to public release or will we have to wait a bit longer?

Blackberry and Windows Phone 8 are now in beta. Windows Store should be in beta today or tomorrow.

PM me if you want access to the beta :)

Please include:
- Your invoice from either the asset store or our online store.
- A gmail address.

We use google groups/sites for the beta so a gmail account works best...

Any closer to the Blackberry release? I'm at the stage where I'd like to build to my Z10 for testing but obviously too error ridden. Is it worth me getting the beta privately or shall I hang on for the final release?

Actually I'd love your feedback on the beta - I'll send you an invite.

Support for the new platforms is ready and tested internally, I'd just like to test on a few real world projects before release.

So if you have access to these platforms and want to help test, please PM me with the following details and I'll add you to the beta:

- your Playmaker invoice number
- a gmail address (we use google groups for the beta)

Thanks!

Installed the Blackberry beta and all the requirements and ready to build straight away. Testing on an actual Z10 phone.
The only odd thing I've come across so far is in the GUILayout TextField Playmaker action. I needed a Textfield to input a players name, calling this action within Unity & Playmaker on my iMac worked as expected, with an alphanumeric text field displayed ready for text input.
Testing the same code on the device brought up the Blackberry's numeric keypad, so not possible to input alphanumeric names.

(Calling textField from Unity using a script brought the actual alphanumeric keypad as needed on the device)

Woops, I'll send any issues via the Blackberry beta Google Group, completely forgot about it in my development frenzy :-\
