This is pretty cool, I'm excited to see how you do the mobile controls.

Good idea, as far as development goes here is an update:

So the controls are pretty much done, using accelerometer adds a fun challenge and works for mobile.  The overall gameplay has become a bit more "star fox" as the ship now moves within invisible boundaries and the camera stays static.  This switch helped up the challenge of the gameplay and made it a bit more fun.  Have a working prototype with a score system and a way to reset after you collide with an asteroid.  Starting to work a little more on the models and then will move on to other areas.  The goal is to evenutally have it so that every so often you get thrown into hyperspace which will act like a bonus round of sorts then be spit out in a different type of environment.  This way the game can go from dodging asteroids to a star wars trench run type thing to other type situations.

Yeah, the idea is to adjust the speed by the amount of time.

As far as controls, I was thinking of using the accelerometer with maybe a virtual joystiq as an alternate option.

Starting a new project that will hopefully be made into a full game (targeting iphone first, then hopefully other platforms like android and ouya)

The idea being that you fly your ship through an endless astroid field till you hit something and blow up.  Have a very basic set up ready to go that you can test here:

Question: I've been messing around with Ouya, would this work just as easily requiring only someone to scan a QR code? (This is of course would require the Ouya to be online)

It's ok, but unless you want to make all your sprites in the editor it gives you in unity, it is a real pain to try and import any outside artwork.

This was mostly just to try and figure out the gameplay mechanics so it did help a lot on the sprite side as I am now making a game using sprites but just using playmaker to handle sprites which works but is not as easy.

Playmaker Help / Re: Orthello Actions

Thanks for the reply Jean

The invoke method kind of works.  This is what I mean.  It will play the animation but it will play all the sprites on the character sheet, not just a specific animation.  I did look on their website and saw that you would use "play(...)" to call a specific animation but when I try to do that in the "Method Name" spot it just doesn't work period.

I think I may just end up getting 2d toolkit though, it seems like since all the actions are there it may make this whole process a lot easier.

EDIT: After following the 2d videos on the Playmaker channel on youtube, I was able to get 2d sprites working that way.  Not the most efficient but ti works as you can see here: http://www.shelbeyhuntsapps.com/tests/animation_test.html

Playmaker Help / Orthello Actions

I was wondering if anyone out there could work on some custom actions for orthello.  I'm using the free version and it would be great even just to have a play orthello animation action.

Thanks for the tip1  This was all a result of me sitting there and saying to myself, "I want to have my character do this.." then experimenting till I got something working.

Also the pixel art was because I was also trying out a thing called rage pixel.  It's also is easy as I was just trying to focus on making the game work, not necessarily making the game pretty.

So this is just a really simple game but it was more to learn how to do things with playmaker and unity than anything else.

Big thank you to all of you on these forums as I have stalked these to find many answers as I was putting this together.
