Playmaker Help / View navigation problems?

A user has left a bad review on the asset store citing these problems:

- The hint menu is broken.
- You can EITHER pan or zoom, not both.

After a decade, they still have not managed to get basic view navigation working!

I honestly have no idea what he means, and he seems unwilling to provide more details. He claims the problems are obvious, however, we have no similar reports that I can find, and I use Playmaker every day myself and don't see these issues. If you have run into these problems or can shed some light on what they might be, please let me know so I can look into it.

Playmaker Announcements / Unity 5.6 Beta Patch

Please import the attached package to fix issues with the Unity 5.6 beta.

NOTE: Sometimes beta versions of Unity break things. Please report any problems you run into with the Unity betas so we can fix them as quickly as possible.

Official Action Updates / Call Method custom editor

1.8.2 shipped with a new editor for the Call Method action.
Unfortunately it has a few issues:
  • Method dropdown was not available if pointing to a variable with no value.
  • Sometimes the dropdown would only show base MonoBehaviour methods.
If you use the Call Method action please try the attached version instead.
If you want to revert to the old UI, delete CallMethodEditor.cs.

Playmaker Announcements / Unity 5.3 Compatibility

IMPORTANT: Unity 5.3 users should install the 1.8.0 beta.
There are known issues with 1.7.8.4 and Unity 5.3 that are fixed in 1.8.

1.8 has been in beta for a while and is stable. We just wanted to release it as a public beta since it's a big update. It will become the official version very soon.

Import the latest version from the store, then install 1.8.0 from the Welcome Screen.

If the Welcome Screen doesn't open automatically you can find it here:
MainMenu > PlayMaker > Welcome Screen.

You can also find the PlayMaker.1.8.0.unitypackage in Assets\PlayMaker\Editor\Install.

As always, BACKUP your projects before updating! Projects saved with 1.8 cannot be opened in older versions of PlayMaker!

Playmaker Announcements / Playmaker Offline Manual

Finally made some time to look into scraping the online docs to build an offline manual. Here is the first pass at this doc:

The process is largely automatic, so we can take new snapshots as the online docs are updated :)

Please let me know if you run into any problems/bugs with these docs.

Looking into search libraries now, so you can search offline.

Then will be looking into other formats. Maybe chm, pdf, better printable css... Let me know if you have any ideas...

Playmaker Help / Unity 5 Troubleshooting

Check that you have the latest version of Playmaker. For Unity 5 support make sure you update in the Unity 5 Asset Store or download the latest version from the Hutong Games store. The about window should say 1.7.8.2.

Playmaker Help / Unity 5 Playmaker Auto Updater (BETA)

We're going to add an Auto Updater to Playmaker soon to try and fix common update problems automatically. I've attached a beta version that moves PlayMaker.dll from Assets\PlayMaker to Assets\Plugins\PlayMaker. This is a common problem when updating a 4.x project to 5.0.

If you have have a 4.x project that you can test this on I'd love to get some feedback.

Testing:
  • BACKUP your projects first!
  • Load the project in Unity 5.0
  • Update and import Playmaker 1.7.8.2
  • Press play and you probably have errors: Method not found: 'UnityEngine.Component.get_guiTexture'
  • Import PlaymakerAutoUpdater. It should run automatically.
  • Press play and the errors should be gone.

NOTE: The updater currently only checks for and fixes this one problem. I'd like to get feedback on how this works before we expand this proof of concept into a framework for other issues... so please keep this thread focused on that issue. Feel free to start new threads about other upgrade issues :)

EDIT: New version. Checks for Unity 5 version of Playmaker.

EDIT: Version 3. Added dialog to allow AutoUpdater to make changes.

We just released Playmaker 1.7.8 to the Asset Store for Unity 5 compatibility.

If you bought from the Hutong Games store, the update will be up soon. You should get an email when it's ready...

Playmaker Help / How to Share Playmaker Projects

When sharing Playmaker projects please be careful not to include Playmaker dlls.

Exporting a Unitypackage:

In the unitypackage dialog, please uncheck:
Assets/PlayMaker/PlayMaker.dll
Assets/PlayMaker/Editor/PlayMakerEditor.dll

Also uncheck the Assets/PlayMaker/Versions folder if it's there.

On the other end, users will need to import PlayMaker before importing the exported project.

Preview Version:

Playmaker ships with a Preview version that lets you view and run FSMs but not edit them. This is useful if you want to share a working project with someone who doesn't own Playmaker.

To install the preview version import:
Assets/PlayMaker/Versions/PlayMakerPreview.unitypackage

Then DELETE the Assets/PlayMaker/Versions folder before sharing the project. This is necessary since the Versions folder contains default versions of the dlls.

Bug Reports

Projects submitted to Fogbugz or uploaded with a private download link can include Playmaker dlls.
Projects shared on the forum or with public download links should NOT include Playmaker dlls!


We hope to include tools to streamline this process soon...

iOS Help / Fixing IL2CPP linking errors[SOLVED]

Apparently IL2CPP for iOS does not support Unity Networking yet. To build a project with Playmaker:

  • Import Assets/PlayMaker/Versions/PlayMakerNACL.unitypackage. These dlls have networking stripped out.
  • Delete the PlayMaker/Actions/Network folder.
  • Edit PlayMaker/Actions/CreateObject.cs and add UNITY_IPHONE To the #if list of platforms that don't support networking.

If you use networking in your project you will have to wait for Unity to support it in IL2CPP for iOS!

Playstation Mobile / Playstation Mobile Patch

This patch lets you build for Playstation Mobile platforms:

It adds UNITY_PSM compiler defines to actions not supported in Playstation Mobile builds.

NOTE: Since we don't have a dev kit yet, if you are a licensed Playstation developer please let us know if other actions need this added! Thanks!
