Playmaker Help / Set Properties need variables now?[SOLVED]
« on: September 27, 2016, 08:23:42 PM »
This is something I recently just found out. Using Playmaker 1.8.1 with Unity 5.4.

In the Set property, you use to be able to just drag the component of a game object onto your FSM and it would give you the option to use a variable to control/change something or manually do it.

For example, say you have a UI game object with the Text Component on it. In previous versions of playmaker, you could of just dragged the text component of that gameobject onto the state machine, and chose to set the property, then it would give you a list of what properties to set. In this example we would want to set the text property. It would of gave you an empty box to type in a string value or you could of used a pre-defined variable.

Or another example, say you have a light object, you want to enable/disable the light component. Same thing, drag and drop that component onto a state machine, select the enabled option. It would of gave you a check box to set the property to either true or false or change to use a variable.

But now, you no longer have the option to manually set these properties. You need to have predefined variables.

And I have no problem with defining variables, but I preferred the former solution and manually doing things. It was so much faster. Why was this option removed from the set properties option? Variables are a must now, so you can no longer quickly just toggle things on and off or anything like that. :(

UPDATE: March 10th, 2014

Hey guys, I just created a webplayer version of the game. So now you can play the game directly in your web browser no download required. The webplayer version plays at the same resolution for everyone so now all gui text and gui objects are placed where they should be if any of you have been experiencing gui problems such as text out of place or gui objects cutting off the screen.

Play the webplayer version here:

Once again, this is 100% free to play, no in game ads or anything. The link is just a dropbox link so it won't take you to third party sites like kongregate or anything to play the game on.

The webplayer version still saves your game progress so you can close it and open it to continue where you left off. The game automatically saves after completing a level.

Just posted this in works in progress thread. Since its done Im posting it in the showcase here as well. Game Was made with Playmaker

Game is finished and released!

You know what today is? (my birthday). The release of my newest game! :)
Just as promised yesterday, today I am finally releasing my first game of 2014. This is probably my most polished game yet. I put in a lot of hard work on this and it took me a lot of  time but finally its complete and I am happy to add another game to my list of completed game projects. This one is my best game yet so far. :)

I just finished writing a giant blog post on my dev blog where I say all these things about my game and kind of brag about it then I have the downloads section for the game up. So if you wanna check out the full blog post for my newest game check out the release page for it here on my blog:

So anyway, just getting to the point. My game "Hide-n-Seek Winter" is out now and is available 100% free to download and play. Currently it is for windows, Mac and Linux platforms. I might make an android version of it sometime down the road and I will probably create a webplayer version to put here as well later on.

Release Trailer: (NEW)
Before you download you can check out the release trailer I made for this game to see what its about:

After playing a game of hide and seek, little sister Frosty compliments her big brother Choco by telling him that he is the greatest hide and seek player ever. After saying this, the "Hiding Demon" suddenly appears and refuses to believe that choco is the greatest hide and seek player ever. The hiding demon then kidnaps Choco's little sister and disappears. The hiding demon tells Choco to meet him at the frozen pond in the "Infinite Snow World", a strange alternate dimension world where it snows forever. In order for Choco to rescue his little sister, he must defeat the hiding demon in a game of hide and seek.

Well thats it. Like always I had a lot of fun creating this game. I believe that this is a major step up compared to my previous games. It was a really big project for me and definitely one of my most serious attempts at making a good game. If you play it I would love to hear your feedback and critics. Enjoy the game everyone! :)

Forgot to post the in game screenshots here. So here they are,

Work In Progress... / "Hide-n-Seek Winter" (Coming early February)
« on: January 29, 2014, 11:31:53 PM »
Hello playmaker community. I have been working on a toon game for sometime now. I am using playmaker to bring it to life so I thought I would share here. You might have also seen my post for this on works in progress section on the unity forums as well.

Anyway, heres a preview of what I have created so far. Let me know what you think :)

Story: Choco and his little sister Frosty are playing outside in the snow when suddenly an approaching car looses control of its breaks and crashes into the two kids. After being run over by the speeding vehicle, Choco suddenly finds himself standing in front of his house. Choco then receives a letter from his little sister Frosty. The letter asks Choco to search for his little sister because they are now playing "Hide and Seek", Frosty's favorite game.

This will be a short game that tells the story about a brother and his sister.

Plan on releasing it sometime in February. It will be for windows, Mac and Linux. (And possibly Android later on depending on how things go)

teaser trailer

Choco: main character, big brother.

Frosty: choco's younger sister. Loves to play Hide and Seek.

EDIT: Sorry for the huge screenshots that are cut off.. Not sure why they appear so big on these forums. :-\

User Showcase / Forest Soup - Free short horror game out now!
« on: October 31, 2013, 11:08:26 AM »
Hello Playmaker forum! Its my first post here but I have been using playmaker for a good amount of time now and often check the forums. Some of you here might of seen me over at the unity forums. I know I recognize a couple of you from the unity forums to.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my finished horror game called "Forest Soup". Its a game I have been working on since the beginning of October and today its finally released.

I created the entire game solo with Playmaker and I cannot express enough how much I am in love with the tool. Playmaker is an amazing tool and I would of not been able to finish my game in time without it. (I only had a month to create this). I know from experience because I have coded all of my previous projects and it would take for ever to make a good amount of gameplay. Playmaker let me rapidly create this entire game and I just really want to thank the people behind it. So thanks Playmaker creators.   :)

If you are also on the unity forums you might have already seen me post this over at their "Showcase" section and I posted this on my blog today as well. I am just everywhere today but I really want to post it here on the playmaker forums as well because really it is playmaker that is behind all of the logic and FSMs I created for this project.

Anyway about my game...

Game Summery:
"Forest Soup" is a horror game about a boy named Oliver OliveTree and his magical flying pet creature named Fogo. Oliver and Fogo become hungry as the day nears its end. The two characters decide to make forest soup for dinner, a legendary soup that has a taste that is out of this world. The two eventually realize that they do not have the ingredients to make this soup. Fogo tells Oliver that all the ingredients can be found at a place called "Black Cloud Island". Fogo takes Oliver to the entrance of the island where the game begins. Take the role of Oliver OliveTree and skydive down below to this mysterious place called "Black Cloud Island" in search of the ingredients for the so called Forest Soup.

My short horror game "Forest Soup" is finally finished and out now just in time for Halloween!
The game is 100% free and available for Windows, Mac and Linux users.

I hope you give it a try and let me know your feedback after playing. :p

Old links removed. Please download the newest and improved version from the update below. :)

I have not tested the Mac or Linux versions of the game so I am unaware of how those will run. If you run into any problems with those versions please let me know. I only say this because once again I never tested those versions but they should run just fine and have no problems. But yeah let me know of any issues encountered just in case.

Big thank you to Unity and its community, the people behind Playmaker and Blender3d.

Hope you enjoy my latest game and have a Happy Halloween!
