Share New Actions / Select Random Float
« on: October 02, 2017, 09:56:56 AM »
Hello,

I could not find an action to select a random float, so here is one ready to go! Useful for selecting floats after being randomly generated with the random float action. It is a modified version of the select random string official action.

Thanks!

You could use Get Vector XYZ, I believe it is, and use itween move to for your move.

Hi Jean,

Let me check that out and I'll report back. I had not considered that yet. Thanks!

It's configurable. You can alter any of the vectors and keep whatever you want, unless I'm misunderstanding you.

Take a look at Set Vector3 XYZ. You can 0 out your other two values and leave your X axis unchanged.

Which itween action are you using for your movement?

If I'm not mistaken, you can just multiply your variable with vector multiply and that should get it.

Yeah, that's what I started with. If you're talking about the UGUI Dynamic List sample. I had success using it manually, but trying to feed data to it was a no go. How else would I dynamically add the buttons from array data if not by array for each? Maybe I'm just using the wrong logic here. Thanks Jean!

Hey Jean,

Right now I'm just testing the feasibility of using Playmaker for this purpose so I'm trying to see if this can be done using Playmaker. There's really nothing else to do manually right now.

Ahh, I gotcha! Maybe someone else can weigh in on this, but I don't think there's currently an action for this. You could potentially write one or just use a script and call that function.

See this post.

Would the "Get Key Down" action work for you?

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately that doesn't work for me either. I wound up reverting to an earlier version of the call method action script and that works perfectly for me as it allows you to type in fields instead of just selecting from a drop down. Perhaps in a future version there can be the option? For reference I'm using the action from the following post.
