Hey guys, thanks for your kindness and Happy New Year! Evil Gremlin, I hope you make progress fighting your disease as well.

In 2017 I'm desparately trying to turn negatives into positives. I'll be blogging about my experiences w/ #gamedev and cancer here:

I hope to find developers who will co-op with me against cancer, so please find me on twitter (@nickelcitypixel) or shoot me an email (admin(at)mikejkelley(dot)com ASAP.

General Discussion / A book, a dream job, cancer.
« on: November 21, 2016, 09:46:19 AM »
This year has been a mixed bag. My Playmaker text book, No-Code Video Game Development Using Unity and Playmaker (tinyurl.com/noCodeKelley), was published through Taylor and Francis in June!

Like I always told you, if you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything!

In September, I was headhunted for his dream job: Evangelist for Unity Technologies (Asia) in Seoul, South Korea!

In October, however, I was diagnosed with cancer. So now I have to live within 40 miles of the Roswell Cancer Institute in order to qualify for treatment. And everything I did to qualify for my dream job (working overseas, contract book writing), now works against me, disqualifying me for Disability. :(

No more dream job and instead, cancer. So that part sucks.

If you're interested, I managed to retain audio/visual rights, so Section 1 (Intro to Unity) of the book is available free on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWWn-q7oQDhGi8-Z3BRMCL0RMOCnPPsr3

Does this or will this have Actions for magnometer input? If not, does anyone have any tips on how I can get magnometer input to work? Thanks. :)

Hi Jean,

Yes, thank you it was very helpful (that doesn't mean I won't have questions later on lol). Thanks again, I understand you're super busy and I know what that's like!

Playmaker Help / SOLVED: Joystick input names in Playmaker Actions
« on: December 15, 2015, 09:33:35 PM »
In the input manager I use "joystick button 2 (even though the type says "Key or Mouse Button")" successfully. Entering "joystick button 2" in the Get Button Down Action does not work however. Please advise.

So basically cycling selection of enemies (dynamically, from a spawn pool) based on proximity.

This is the behavior I'm trying to achieve (after spawning the enemies into an array); https://youtu.be/xZncRIBO_us?t=4m10s

Hi Jean,

I need to add enemies to an array dynamically and then sort them continuously according to their distance from the player. This is needed for the purpose of cycling selection.

So far I can do anyone of these things separately but not in conjunction. For example, adding enemies dynamically by tag prohibits me from sorting them by distance (the Sort By Distance Action has no effect on the resulting array).

I can do this in code but ultimately I'd like to incld. a Playmaker tutorial on this subj. in my course. BTW, once the add and sort problems are fixed I foresee trouble w/ the cycling selection process...

^This. Convert Int to String is the name of the action.
