Playmaker Help / Speed Based Animations with Move Towards? [SOLVED]

I'm making a 2d side scrolling runner and using move towards with ignore vertical checked to make my character run non stop towards an empty game object "finish line"... jumping and whatnot along the way to avoid fail...

I have enemies that fire things at the runner, causing knockback...

I'd like to automate the animator using speed... but get speed 2d only shows when the character is jumping becauses move towards doesn't produce a velocity...

so two questions, both one side of a coin...

Is there a better option than move towards that would allow me switch animator states by speed?

Is there a way to still use move towards that would allow me to switch animator states by speed?

So this is a question I asked over on the unity forums about my huge triggers passing right through my player undetected some of the time... and they gave me an answer that I just don't get... is what they are suggesting doable with Playmaker?

If not, does anyone else have experience with getting triggers to work right?  They are not small.. and they are not fast... but they don't always detect...

this simple scene reproduces the issue I'm having with my game...

I can't get any 2d triggers to detect an enter...

all the triggers I set up prior to 1.8.4 are working...

anything new i try to make doesn't work

Playmaker Help / Which side was I hit? A knockback question...

So I have an elevated enemy shooting at my player...



the game is a runner... and my player is always moving to the right (except in my picture which I just realized I drew him going left  ::) )... unless of course it is interrupted by knockback... then it keeps moving after it recovers from the knockback...

I have the knockback set to -2.2 on the x and 1.9 on the y...

but what if the player get's hit in the back?  I want the impulse force to change it's direction for the knockback.... and deliver 2.2 on the x instead of -2.2

how can I figure out what side of the player I hit, so if the player is hit in the back... he is knocked forward not backwards... I need a way for the projectile prefab to know whether it's in front of or behind the player on contact.

I have a problem with my jump and shoot buttons having a lot of lag on my android device... they weren't there before, but with the update to 1.8.4, i see a huge delay between tapping my device and the in game response.

is this a known issue?  is there a way to download 1.8.3?

could it be something else others are aware of and know how to fix touch input lag?

so i have a 2d drone that i want to fly from one point to the other... and i want to get the speed every frame and set the rotation every frame according to how fast it's going... so like a helicopter, it tilts more the faster it goes... so as it eases in and out.. the tilt will change with the speed....

what can i use to move the object so it has an ease to it because if I use move towards or itween or the like... the object doesn't return a speed or velocity... but if I just set up a velocity or constant force... it doesn't ease at all...

any suggestions?

Now that Text Mesh Pro is available for free, are there any actions that would allow me to change the text within the input box?

for example... I want to make a simple countdown 3, 2, 1... GO! but I'm not sure how I could change the text...

I am using pool boss to spawn and despawn platforms in a platformer, and line cast 2d only sees platforms that are already active in the scene... once the spawned ones are triggered to show up, line cast stops working on those newly activated ones... however, raycast seems to see them ok...

General Discussion / Proper 2d Jumping Physics

So I've set up a 2d character to jump using an impulse force... played with making the gravity a little heavier on their 2d rigidbody and the impulese force a little more intense... and it looks ok... but it doesn't have acceleration on the fall...  it looks a little floaty... linear... both up and down... unnatural... it doesn't ease in any way... and it just looks weird to me... 

anyone have any suggestions on a more realistic or more "game like" jump... maybe using acceleration somehow or something...

what do you folks do to make jumping look good?

So I've seen this before... and I still don't know how I fix it...

but sometimes (like right now) unity compiles a new action that was installed and no matter where I place it in the folder hierarchy, the actions list goes grey... and when it comes back... I can't access the action I'm trying to install... it's not in the list.. I see it in the folders... I can move it and unity will recompile... but it can't be accessed in the list... [ please don't ask me if I searched for it  :) ]

this is happening right now with procamera 2d actions...

they are in the folder.. I've moved them to different folders, unity compiles, actions go gray... and when it all comes back to life... no pro camera 2d actions anywhere...

I've deleted them and reinstalled them...  still not there...

This is not procamera 2d specific...I've had this happen to me before...

any advice?

Playmaker Help / Playmaker Triggers just stopped working...

I had just developed some AI for enemies to stop when they run into each other using triggers... fire where they stand... and if the enemy in the way moves, they go back to chasing the player...

this worked... it was glorius

now it stopped working.. the on trigger enter 2d isn't detecting each other any more... I haven't changed anything.. I watch the fsm run... and the trigger just doesn't detect now...

the tags haven't changed... the fsms haven't changed...  I just watched this all work.. and celebrated... and now... nothing... it just stopped working...

anyone run across this behavior before?

Playmaker Help / Tap to rotate?

I've been doing a lot of search and just can't find an answer... there was one that came close but I think it was only for nGUI...

I just want to rotate an object when I touch the screen..

I tried mouse down and mouse up system events... but it sees both on mouse up only... I've tired get mouse button down / get mouse button up... that didn't seem to work at all either way...

I was changing the ugui component proxy in the inspector along the way with these changes...

I tried on gui click... but that only sees the click on the mouse up and not down... i have it working if you click it itween rotates by a certain degree... but...

how do I tap the screen... rotate an object while my finger or mouse is down... and then when I let up.. the rotation stops?

This seems like a very simple undertaking... but I can't figure out why I can't get any solution to work...

Playmaker Help / FSM counter

there is a setting to show how many times an FSM has fired... but it isn't updating... it just stays at 1... so I went to toggle the setting to see if that would fix the issue with it not updating... and I can't find it... why can't I find it in the preferences anywhere?  Any hints as to why it isn't updating?

I need to make my backgrounds scroll in parallax, how do I achieve this... tried to look at some threads but they look very outdated... I have procamera 2d, and that has a parallax option... but I'm not sure how I get my background to repeat...
