Unity does not remove unused scripts when making a build. This means unused actions will be in the build. We're working on our own tool to automatically remove unused actions, but in the meantime, here are some tips:
  • If you don't use Unity Networking you can safely delete the PlayMaker/Actions/Networking folder.
  • If you don't want your app to ask for GPS permissions, remove the location actions: GetLocationInfo, StartLocationServicesUpdate, StopLocationServicesUpdate.
  • If you don't want your app to ask for vibration permissions, remove the Vibrate action.

Playmaker Announcements / Prefab Apply BUG ALERT!!
« on: August 23, 2013, 05:33:56 AM »
We've recently found an issue with Prefab Apply corrupting FSM data. We're working to get a fix out asap.

Here's a summary of the problem:

If you have multiple prefab instances in a scene, and you override events or variables in actions on those instances, then hit Apply to apply those changes to the prefab, other instances of that prefab can get corrupted. Specifically, action fields that were overridden in other instances can get corrupted. Unfortunately you have to fix those fields manually (or Revert to the prefab).

But until we get the fix out, it's best to avoid Prefab Apply and overriding of individual action fields in prefab instance. Instead expose variables in the inspector and override those.

The problem stems from the way Unity figures out the differences between a prefab and its instances. It just doesn't work well with low level changes to the FSM graph and actions. In fact the fix may well be to disallow low level changes to the graph in prefab instances. Or changes to the graph will mark the whole graph as modified. Basically to prevent Unity from trying to resolve differences between the prefab and the instance.

Anyway, I hope that makes sense! Please ask questions if it's not clear.

I'm really sorry for the problems this has caused, it really sucks when a project breaks and you don't know why! We're working to get a fix out asap.

EDIT: The fix is currently in beta, just needs a little more testing...

Windows Phone 8 Add-On now available:
Unity Asset Store:
PlayMaker Store:

NOTE: When updating, import the Playmaker update first, then the Windows Phone 8 Addon.

There are some limitations in Unity when working with Windows Phone 8:

This means you cannot use Network actions with Windows Phone 8. If you imported Photon, please delete the Photon Unity Networking folder.

You can also safely delete the PlayMaker\Actions\Network folder (although you don't have to).

Add-ons for BlackBerry10 and Windows Phone 8 are now available in our store:

Should also be in the Unity Asset Store soon...

« on: August 02, 2013, 03:24:11 PM »
There is a bug in 1.6.3 with the editor resetting template variables to "none" when playing.

Since it can take a few days for updates to get into the asset store we're releasing a patch here.

Please import the attached unitypackage to apply the fix.

Share New Actions / Collecting actions to include in official updates
« on: June 09, 2013, 09:55:02 AM »
There are so many useful actions posted here that it's hard to keep up! :D

I'd like to get some of these into the official Playmaker release, but I need your help to track them down.

Good candidates are:

- Actions that fix bugs in official actions.
- Actions that extend official actions with new options.
- New actions that lots of people might find useful :D

NOTE: Actions that extends official actions should not break the old behavior. Existing projects might depend on that behavior. For example: Any new options should default to a value that keeps the old behavior intact.

Super specialized actions, experimental actions, or actions that require third party plugins are not good candidates. They are best hosted on the forums or wiki for now, until we come up with a better system...

Playmaker Announcements / Playmaker 1.6.0 Released
« on: May 17, 2013, 04:56:16 PM »
Playmaker 1.6.0 is now live in the store!

Release Notes:

This release introduces Custom Action Editors:

- Create custom editors for any action.
- Create custom property drawers for Object variables.
- Create interactive scene gizmos to edit action parameters.

This lets third party developers create better Playmaker integrations, and lets you customize Playmaker for your specific game or pipeline.

I think people will have quite a lot of fun with this :)
