Send Message to TextMesh Pro
« on: April 29, 2015, 11:16:03 AM »
Hi,

Before I begin I better mentioned that I am a newbie, completely and utterly.  ;D

I am attempting to use a typewriter effect with TextMesh Pro. I have tried to use Send Message to increase the value set_maxVisibleCharacters so that it would show an additional character on each call.

I didn't know you couldn't use Send Message every frame though.

Is there an alternative method? I am using a Float Interpolate, so I can't change to another state.

If I am using the wrong terminology then I apologise. Hopefully you'll get what I mean ...

All the best, Steven

Hi,

typically, sending message everyframe is not ideal.

instead, either you use "set property" action:

or you write a custom action to connect PlayMaker and TextMesh Pro properly.

have you contacted the author of TextMeshPro, and mention your will to use PlayMaker? maybe he'll be ok to start supporting PlayMaker officially? in which case, you can redirect him to me to initiate proper support.

Bye,

 Jean
