Mousepick randomly stops responding

This has been an on-going issue and i don't know how to resolve it. Basically my game is one scene and for whatever reason mousepicks will randomly stop responding depending on positioning within the scene. Anyone happen to know what's causing it? It's happened on several occasions. The starts at a splash screen before transitioning to a title screen and from there to a filescreen.

So your game is 2D? Or is it one screen with 3D objects?

I had a comparable issue with a 2D one-screen-game where I emulated a computer desktop. The problem with me was that the mouse pick has problems with the colliders and if one object was inside another (like a file inside a folder in my case) the mousepick would only react to the 'outer' collider (even if it was only a trigger) but not to the smaller one inside the big one. I had to tinker with the layers and try out different solutions without colliders.
