SIMPLE QUESTION:

HOW TO MAKE A 3D THING (CUBE, WALL OF CUBES, ANYTHING) 'SLEEP' UNTIL COLLIDED WITH (OR 'TRIGGERED'?)

I KNOW HOW TO DO THIS IN 12-15 OTHER PROGRAMS, INCLUDING 3D STUDIO FOR DOS 30+ YEARS AGO,.

 IT SEEMS TO BE IMPOSSIBLE IN UNITY!

That simple question, sits at the PATHETIC UNITY ""COMMUNITY"" FORUM,  like THOUSANDS OF OTHER SIMPLE QUESTIONS,  UNANSWERED for YEARS and YEARS!

WHEN WE WERE INVENTING CGI 25-35 YEARS AGO, WE ALL HELPED EACH OTHER ENORMOUSLY, IT WAS GREAT!  WE WERE A BIG FAMILY. 

UNITY PEOPLE ARE NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL!


I KNOW CAPS, I DON'T CARE. I'M A FRUSTRATED ARTIST NOT A EMOTIONLESS  CODER.

I HAVE ASKED FOR A YEAR AT THE UNITY SITE, 

NOT A SINGLE ANSWER, 

OTHER PEOPLE HAVE ASKED THIS SAME QUESTION,  YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS AGO.

NOT ONE SINGLE ANSWER.

I ONLY ASK HERE BECAUSE I HAVE ASKED AT 7 OTHER FORUMS, (STARTING VERY POLITE AND NO CAPS,) BUT never got a single answer in months,..

NO ONE HELPS ANYONE IN UNITY "COMMUNITY"! [Moderated]  ARTISTS NIGHTMARE!!!!

Dude calm down, do you even have PlayMaker installed?

I have a hard time believing you can't find this simple answer on every unity forum.

In PlayMaker just go to your "Action Browser" and search for the "Sleep" action

This will force the Rigid Body of the referenced Game Object to sleep until bumped by another Rigid Body.

I am really wondering why you asked in 7 other forums politely and here not...

I just did a little bit of google and found several answers, so you might have been searching in the wrong direction.

Anyway... as LordHorusNL said you can use 'Sleep' action and 'Wake Up' to do what you are looking for.

haha thanks for the entertainment.

Simple questions that can be googled in seconds or solved by watching even a most basic beginner tutorial sit unanswered on forums as they deserve to. Simple.

Unity has excellent documentation, you should read the part on Rigidbodies and Sleep function.

 Can you reference all your questions on the various forums, and I'll be happy to answer them. If you don't reference or reply, I will consider your post as spam, because unrelated to Playmaker and simply not following basic principles of polite communication. Spam these days are becoming more and more elaborate, so I will need strong evidence that you are not a bot.

but yes, I do mean it, that if you do post your questions on the various forums, I will answer them.

and if you are willing to learn, I will make a sample in PlayMaker demonstrating how to do this ( it's very simple, that's likely why nobody replied so far probably)

ps: personal experience: Unity community is exactly why I picked Unity as my main development tool for my freelance carrier. If you know how to ask, you will get an answer, and if you know how to search the internet for solutions, you will be busy getting well paid doing great projects for the rest of your life. This is my experience of Unity so far :) yes it's frustrating at time, for example, I just started a 2018.1 project and yes 2018 is not ready for production, it's frustrating, it crashes randomly, shader Editor is buggy and unfinished, it's hard work. But still, I can achieve amazing results, and clients are happy with the end results, that's what counts in the end.
