Animating 2d colliders

I have a collided question. I don't know if it's a Unity Question or a Playmaker question, but how do i animate 2d colliders to move with the sprite it's attached? From the posts I've read. Polygonal colliders are too taxing to be used on sprites but I've noticed that the colliders attach to one frame at a time, regardless of the type of collider. Like for instance, creating area attacks that damage enemies anywhere in the area of the attack. I'm not really clear on how to set that up. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
