Title: Fix for freeze in Editor?

It appears that this is a known issue and is fixed in the 1.8 beta: http://hutonggames.com/playmakerforum/index.php?topic=9414.msg44777#msg44777

This is significantly impacting development for us.  Is there any chance we could get it backported to 1.7.8?

you can ask (pm) for a beta access to Alex Chouls.
or wait a little bit for the official release.

We're QA'ed up and stable on 1.7.8.3 and we'd prefer not to use the beta version yet as we don't want to introduce the risk of other issues.
