Title: accessing the keyboard on android phones

is there an easy way to do this? Basically, I am making a string of keys hit for naming their character but can't figure out how to access the digital keyboard.

There is an action on the Ecosystem (https://hutonggames.fogbugz.com/default.asp?W1181) called 'open device key board'
