Title: Rain{indie} Actions
Post by: blackant on June 02, 2013, 01:52:12 PM
i would like to mix easily between playmaker and Rain.

rain is absolutly marvellous for ai works but need some scripted parts for better result, wich can't be done by myself because i have not enough knowledge about this.

rain can remplace the pathfinding from unitypro version and is simply amazing.
but it could be more intuitive for non experienced user if playmaker can interact with it.

for example i would like to define a target point for my AI,
i have the choice of a Vector3 or a variable.

if i set my variable with playmaker, and enter his name inside Rain, nothing happens.

Hi,

Sorry, I can't really dig into this right now, I have too much on my plate :) Mecanim, nGUI, and I have to properly get into Ultimate FPS Camera as well...

Hopefully things will clear up in few weeks. I  really would like to get into this, I think it would be good, but I also fear exactly what you said, I don't think it's for totally beginners, at least without scripting knowledge, so I need to study this carefully to see what can be done on the playmaker side to easy all this integrationg and make a useful bridge.

Keep us updated on your findings, thanks.

bye,

 Jean

Ultimate fps is pretty user friendly already, i haven't got real far into it but you  can do a whole lot with the system as is without coding, using his scripts and get/set property. I can't confirm the more advanced control is accessible on the front end because i put it on the back burner for the time being.

So I'm not sure how difficult rain implementation would be but i don't feel like ufps is so hard (yet) that it needs actions.

Just food for thought. I haven't looked at rain either but i know AI is a  fairly hot topic.

Hi,

Yes, Indeed UFPS is very well done, I am still brainstoming what angle to approach this, cause while most of it is accessible via set/get property action, it's still something good to have dedicated custom actions for custom task, but UFPS is so huge that it would take a long time if we go down that road.

It's not a question of difficulty :) it's question of time, as always in these cases, these publishers know what they are doing and their tools are fantastic, well written and powerful, so it takes time to make proper bridges that live up to the expectations.

bye,

Jean
