It is a pity that there is no Multiplayer - which is most important! Especially on Unity App Store so many plug-ins support the full functionality GPGS .. But I wish you success in finalizing ..

Someone requested that exact plugin so I made it. I will be making a GameCenter plugin soon. Perhaps that will support multiplayer.

Hi, Marsh

I have few questions about your "playmaker actions":

1. Why I can't buy these "actions" from "Unity Asset Store"
https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com ?

2. If i buy these "actions" from your web site
http://www.mightyprofessional.com , will be there any free "actions" updates, and how I can get them (download)?

3. Can you show better and big picture of these "actions" (in Playmaker)?
Because I can't see anything... in "GUI : FSM picture".

Thanks!

Legitimate questions indeed. Sorry it took me so long to respond my computer broke on Monday so I am now on a iPad.

It's not on the unity asset store as it's under review right now it takes awhile.

If I update I will email everyone the new version.

Sorry the picture is so small. I will get a bigger screen up at work tomorrow. I would do it now but I do not have access to a computer.

Hi @Marsh,
Just bought this - its just what I was after! Thanks :)

One question/problem - when I show a leaderboard (on iOS) it's showing the status bar at the top of the page and the settings icon and 'done' button as well as title are positioned strangely, sitting on top of a half height box. I've attached an image to show you.

The status bar is hidden in my game so any way to correct this please?
Title: Re: Google Play Services
Post by: Marsh on March 04, 2014, 02:41:47 PM
How did you disable the status bar? Did you do it in your Unity settings or via XCode?

Does this happen everytime? What happens if you rotate your screen?
Title: Re: Google Play Services
Post by: moondust.games on March 04, 2014, 02:48:53 PM
The status bar is disabled in unity. Yes it happens every time. The game is landscape only (left or right) and when I rotate the device it still looks the same.

I have a second issue : on iOS if I close the app and restart it I get the Google Play Game "welcome back" box every time. But on Android there is no welcome back box displayed. After the initial log in to Google+ there is a "welcome" box but never a "welcome back" box to inidicate sign in has happened. I think there should be shouldn't there?

Thanks in advance.
Title: Re: Google Play Services
Post by: Marsh on March 05, 2014, 06:08:42 AM
As for the status bar I really have no idea. It sounds like it may be a bug with the SDK I am wrapping. You could bring it up on the issues page with them or I could if you prefer. They do seem to check and fix the bugs.

As for the welcome not popping up on android I will check it out tonight and get back to you. I can probably call something to get it to pop on init if logged in.
Title: Re: Google Play Services
Post by: moondust.games on March 05, 2014, 06:27:41 AM
Thanks. Yes if you could post the issue that would be great as you will be able to explain it better and know what you've done/use if you need to give more details.

Look forward to hearing what you can do about the welcome back dialogue.

I've found another 2 bugs - again on ios

1. The leaderboard panel slides up with a grey background and white panel with the leaderboards list just fine. But the achievements panel slides up with a transparent background that shows the game behind and it then turns black.

2. The achievements list on ios is not listed in order (as per the order set up in Google Play) whereas on Android it is in the correct order.
Title: Re: Google Play Services
Post by: moondust.games on March 05, 2014, 08:24:46 AM
Sorry...another bug on Android. Hopefully you can work out all these issues and make an update?

I have found a work around for this.

On Android after the first sign in it won't show leaderboard or achievements. Sign out and back in and they work...although it doesn't do an actual Google Play sign in (so did it actually sign out?). So in effect every other time I turn google play on (sign in) within my game it does sign in but wont show leaderboard or achievements.

My work around - chain sign in success to another sign in - this is silent but completely fixes the strange behaviour mentioned above.

In iOS it works fine and doesn't do this. I'm happy to leave my workaround in place but please let me know if you discover what it is and fix it along with the other fixes you're looking at.

Once its all working I will leave a glowing review on the Asset store as I can see this will be a great plug in :)

Thanks for the work around! This will save me a lot of time in finding the bug! I have a AdMob android issue I have to fix tonight so hopefully I will have time to fix this up as well :)

Good research!

Please refer to reply #13 on page 1 - in addition to those notified bugs I failed to notice that the leaderboards are also not sorted in order according to the ordering established in Google developer console. You'll see in the image in that post the they are listed > easy, hard, medium.

So it's both leaderboards and achievements are not being sorted in order in iOS. on Android they are in the correct order.

To recap the bugs I've found are listed below - I hope this helps you patch these bugs. And I do hope you can update me on fixing these as my game is nearing completion. Please let me know timescale as otherwise I might need to get a refund and look at one of the other options. Hopefully not as other than these issues your plugin is doing the job!

1. iOS only - the incorrectly drawn title box on Google Play panels. (and/or status bar showing) - not the highest priority problem for me although doesn't look great so if it can be fixed great.

2. Android only - no 'welcome back' on sign in after closing app from multitasking and reopening (where sign in is automatic) - edit to this one. I have noticed if the app is just closed but stays active in b/g then after a long delay and returning to game you do get a 'Welcome {name}' box.

3. Android only - the no leaderboards/achievements working on 1st (and every other) sign in. Although works with my double-sign-in work around. (thought - maybe the double sign in trick will fix (2) as well? will check. edit: checked this, it doesn't work)

4. iOS only - the achievement slide up panel has a transparent background(border) which turns black after completing slide up. This looks wrong and is not same as leaderboard slide up which has solid grey b/g as expected.

5. iOS only - unordered lists of leaderboards and achievements. i.e. not according to the sort order given in the google console. (1/5, 2/5 etc...)

I will look into the bugs tomorrow night. If I do not have it done by then I will issue you a refund. I will need to check my paypal balance but I may also be able to refund you tonight if I am able. Did you purchase through Unity or the website?
I am not 100% sure I can fix all of those as I may need to modify the actual sdk.

Post by: moondust.games on March 06, 2014, 04:47:41 PM
Hi. I would rather continue using it than get a refund, don't get me wrong. I think it's great so far.

If you can fix bugs 2 and 5 from my list, over the weekend, I would be a very happy bunny :)

The others are glitchy things that don't stop it working, or I've found a work-around. So they can be fixed in an update to my game if you can't address them all in the next few weeks.

Post by: Marsh on March 06, 2014, 05:27:22 PM
I will do my best! I will have a lot of time on the weekend just hard when im already coding as a full time job! Sorry for all the trouble, definitely should not have to deal with this. I rushed these last 2 assets as I was in a hurry. It will not happen again and I will be happy to refund you if needed.

I may have to modify the Google SDK. Which is fine but you may have to switch your download to my modified package instead.

Hi. I know you're busy on those bugs but when you get a chance can you explain the save to cloud and load from cloud action. At the moment I'm trying to 'load' an integer when the game loads. It hasn't been saved yet so should cause an error and my playmaker flow deals with that. However the load action is causing a crash in that no further actions happen.

I read the Google documentation on cloud saves and loads and understand slots but what I read was that a slot can hold lots of data and it should all be saved every time. you can't add or update one element, you have to save the whole block of data to the slot every time. Do your actions deal with that?

e.g. if i want to save 3 integers in slot 0 can I call 3 save to cloud actions or how do i do just one for the data set ?

And then when I load and it contains a data set how does that get distributed to various local attributes?

I'm confused but probably just not getting it. Thanks.

I will add the load without save to the bug list that I am solving tomorrow (today if your in my timezone). There is currently no way to save multiple variables to one slot but I could add that if you want it, not a big deal.

The data loads it back into the variable provided. If you wanted to provide say 3 ints you would pass a array of 3 ints (in the new action I would make). Then you would load with a array of ints that it would load the data into.

I can explain this more when I actually make it as this may change.
Title: Re: Google Play Services
Post by: moondust.games on March 09, 2014, 08:27:36 AM
I only need to save 3 int attributes in this particular game so I could use 3 slots, one attribute a piece. So don't worry about the array save on my account....although in future maybe.

But yeah I need to load on startup before any save has happened so look forward to that bug being fixed along with the others.

Hope its going ok....look forward to your next post :) I'm in the UK btw so a different time zone to you I suspect.

Couple quick things Applaud if your around.

Are you using the latest iOS version on your device?
When did you download the google SDK it was updated about 3 weeks ago. Do you have the new version?

[Edit]

- Load cloud before save does not allow more actions fixed
- Some try catches added to call finishes if errors occur

Yes I'm around if you have any more questions.

iOS version 7 and I downloaded the google SDK the day I bought your asset which was just 5 days ago so hopefully the latest. The folder says it's google-plus-ios-sdk-1.5.0

From the developer of Google Play:

Quote
Thanks for the feedback! Items 1 and 3 are an issue with the iOS SDK and not the plug-in itself, and should be addressed in the next release of the library.

I've seen some issues with item 4 and leaderboard ordering on iOS. I would check about achievements, tough. Those usually are in the right order, but we primarily sort by achievement status (unlocked, recently updated, locked) and then by sort order. So you might just be seeing that messing up your sort order. (This is especially true if you're using the default achievement icons and can't tell if they've been unlocked or not.)
Title: Re: Google Play Services
Post by: moondust.games on March 09, 2014, 03:13:15 PM
Good to know 1 and 3 might be sorted soon in the SDK (and the least important of the bugs)

4 - in my case i have my own icons, all 5 achievements are 'revealed' so all are in the same status and they're still not sorted in order. I think it's the 2 column merged into 1 we discussed. When a device shows them in 2 columns (like my HTC one) they are in correct order (left->right, top->bottom)

2 - no feedback from them on this one?

I've installed the new Play Games Plugin for Unity 0.9.00 and the new Games SDK 2.0 for iOS and can report on some of the fixes to my list.

1. fixed :) status bar is now hidden

2. no change - not sure if intention behaviour but was logged as bug on git. maybe future fix?

3. fixed :) no more double sign-ins needed

4. fixed :) achievements panel has grey b/g

5. still broken :( - I've notified this again on git as wasn't addressed properly

It is really up to you, do not feel like this was intentional. I write PlayMaker actions for existing plugins. The plugin did not happen to support AdMob. All my plugins since the first one have been by request.

So, I can connect to Google Play aparently.

but some actions seems do nothing:

Like

Show leaderboard
Show specific leaderbard
Unlock archievement

I published my game (for alpha) about a 1 hour or less,  I put the correct IDs in each leaderboard and archievement.

The logout action is working.

Did you provide leaderboard ids in those actions? Unlock achievement only works for hidden achievements. Did you provide a hidden achievement to that action?

The Archievement I think not hidden. But the Leaderboard ID is correct, I´ll take a Screen shot of my FSMs and post here.

Does the one in the example scene work?

I tried to use him initially, placing it as the first scene of my APK, but it worked.
Only the login and logout, other UI screens do not appear.

If the example scene works are you sure it is calling the action at all? Could you put a debug message or something as well on the action to make sure they are all being called?

Are you sure you copied your leaderboard id exactly? I can teamviewer with you if you wish to try and find the issue.

Team viewer will be nice, you can take control and take a look how I inserted the actions, only my english isn't very good :p.

But I think if you see the app you can solve the problem. :)

I solved it by installing the 32bit of the JDK. First I only had installed the 64bit Version. I know its a bit odd when your on a 64 bit machine but I ran into the same problem myself several times.

Now it's working!!!

I think that the problem it's some configuration with, what accounts can login in alpha phase etc.. as you mentioned, thank you for the support!.

Integration for these was pretty easy. Leaderboards up and running with a set of achievements all in a morning. Thanks for the tool!

This sounds like a stupid question but you have a internet connection correct? Are you sure the Init is being called? Also do you have a space before your leaderboard ID. It looks like it a bit in the screenshot.

Working fantastic on android, but I am not able to build on ios.

Has anyone else run into any issue with "GPGSRealTimeRoomDelegate.m" and
"GPGSTurnBasedMatchDelegate.m" while trying to build in xcode?

It gives this error:
@synthesize of 'weak' property is only allowed in arc or gc mode

Any ideas? I will post back here if I figure anything out in the meantime.

I also have one more question for anyone who has used this and built for ios.

In the documentation it says: "After building the XCode project, the Play Games postprocessor will run to configure the Info.plist settings on your project. You will see a log of the operation, which if successful, will give you additional instructions to finish configuring your XCode project."

Where exactly can I see the log of this operation?

So it turns out the source of all my troubles in the last two posts was due to the fact that I was building to ios from windows. Seems obvious now  :P
