Title: Tutorials on Making Animating Sprites With Unity3d 4.3 and Playmaker?
Post by: beowulfkaine on March 27, 2014, 03:29:35 AM
Sorry if this is covered somewhere but I can't find anything on this, I'm looking to find information on how to use Playmaker and Unity4.3 with the new 2D features found in Unity.  All I can find is the old style tutorials which are not helpful with the new system.  I can't even figure out how to make a simple idle/walk animation using a sprite sheet created in 4.3, all there is are the old info using quads.  Has anyone done this yet, can you point me in a direction on the process?

I am looking for this too. I thought I read that they were working on recreating the unity 2d sample game project in playmaker. Not sure if this is still ongoing or not. that would be very helpful though.

I would also like to see more tutors for using the new 2D systems and Playmaker.

Converting the Unity 2D platformer to Playmaker would answer a lot of questions in a very through and detailed manner for users to tear apart.

Brandon Wu is back at it with his latest series - Get Started with Unity 2D — Let’s Make a 2D Platformer with Unity and PlayMaker
CONTENTS

41 Video Lessons
13 Project Steps
22 Additional Resources

Definitely aimed at beginners with a basic understanding of Unity and Playmaker but covers the 2d animation system amongst other things.

This is just one small section listed below.
Set up a 2D character with animations

    Import a single sprite
    Import multiple sprites
Create animations using Unity Animation tools
Create animations using a sprite sheet

Change animations in the game with control

Set up animations in the animator
Set up key controls in PlayMaker to update animations

There is a cost to this course $25 but I think that's reasonable for thew content.

Cheers

I would gladly pay someone $25 just to teach me how to use PlayMaker with the new 2D Animation stuff. It's been an incredibly frustrating limitation. Apparently I bought PlayMaker at the wrong time... :(

If anyone can help, please let me know.

Thanks for the mentioning @semie! I need to check this forum more often. :) If anyone has any questions regarding the course feel free to email me at brandon@pepwuper.com.

I just submitted a 2D mobile game to App Store using what we go over in this class. Here's a prototype of the game (link (http://www.onemonthgameschool.com/2014/07/playtesting-one-player-two-avatars/)) - although in the game I submitted I decided against having the 2-avatar mode.

Oh and we sent out a $10 off coupon code a while ago to the PlayMaker Facebook Page & Twitter account, feel free to use it too (code: helloplaymaker)

LMK if any questions! :)

The game I created using the foundations from my 2D platformer class (https://skl.sh/2LIjTHQ) is out now on the App Store! (99% PlayMaker. The 1% = Analytics, GameCenter, iAd, part of the virtual joystick). Give it a try and let me know your thoughts! ;)
