when i go to import package and select the new version of playmaker, since i purchased through hutong games and not the unity store directly, i receive this error after i click "import".

moving Temp/Export
Package/"a hole lot of numbers and letters"/asset to Assets/PlayMaker/PlayMaker.dll failed: Access is denied

I haven't seen that before. Try restarting Unity/Window/OsX and try again...

Try deleting the Temp folder. Worst case delete PlayMaker.dll then import (maybe the file got locked somehow). BACKUP your project before trying this!
