Title: Will we ever see proper array support?
Post by: Krileon on August 10, 2014, 03:01:26 PM
Is there an array variable type planned? Will we ever be able to use arrays or simple lists without having to use ArrayMaker and its proxy script? I'd really like to see internal support for arrays, which would bring significantly more usability.

Well hopefully a month or so. Likely it will be dropping with Unity 5 but its all up to Alex. Overall there's a HEAP of changes (https://hutonggames.fogbugz.com/default.asp?W311), both new features and some back end updates so I personally don't mind waiting just to be sure its stable. Beta seems pretty stable in 4.x at the moment but I've seen some weird stuff happening in Unity 5 when upgrading big projects.

Hi,

yep, and Unity 5 will likely break a lot of your stuff in general, so make sure you test a project on Unity 5 using a copy, and see what breaks and what needs to be adjusted.

 Bye,
