Title: playmaker and project saved on a qnap (nas)
Post by: xcidium on December 15, 2014, 12:57:05 AM
Anyone using a (nas) qnap to work on in and save projects?
I've never had problem with unity alone or unity with playermaker on my mac working directly on the server. But it's not the same on my pc.

I've recently bought another licence so I can also work on my PC.
Every time I'm going back and forth between software on my PC (windows7)
Unity takes about 30sec to unfreeze.

I've done alot of test, re-install unity, playermaker, installed all drivers up to date. Nothing changed.

Recently found out working locally with playmaker everything works fine.

So checked everything in my qnap, it's all up to date. Also running on a 1gbe.

We use NAS servers at work, dunno much about them but for us it's really slow when logging in the user and tends to be decent speeds after that. Maybe your Windows is getting unlogged from the nas intermittently?

Are you on XP or 7?

windows 7, my nas is connect 24/7, no need to log in, drive is mapped and always files being transfer every sec. I can work all day at the same time on my mac. It's only with playmaker being install to unity it freeze unity.
