Title: Using mecanim for animated body parts and other objects.

Kind of a newbish question, but isn't mecanim geared toward setting up animation for characters that are human like? For example, mimicking motion capture, or can it be applied to just a hand or even a animated face?

You can use mecanim for any kind of animation
