Playmaker Help / Getting PC to pickup/drop objects

Hi,
I am at the point where I need to get my character be able to pick up an object and put it down again.



I have added a Grip Bone to the hand which I presume will provide the anchor point, but I'm clueless about how to get the character to pick it up. Does it involve using playmaker to dynamically parent/unparent the gun to the Grip Bone?

Any ideas please?

Hi,
I had a project in which I was having difficulty getting the character working. I made a new project, purely to tinker with the character. Fixed the character.

How best do I get this character, along with it's FSM+ Character Controller, back into the original project?

Hello,
I am following the excellent Pandurs tutorial on youtube to set up a 3rd Person player character control using Playmaker.

Unlike in the video however, I have made my own characters, and we always made our characters animating on the spot (for instance walking on the spot) which means that my project does not match the one in the tutorial, which uses a character with root motion.

I have got my character playing walk/strafe animations using WASD, as per the instructions (it feels great!), but it does not move around the scene.

Can anyone tell me how to achieve this, the Playmaker way? To make W move the character forward?
Or can you point to another tutorial that deals with this?

Thanks for your replies.

I re-downloaded Playmaker via the asset store, but this only updates it to 1.7.8.4 (1.8.0. beta 43).

I am running Unity 5 / Win 7.

How do I actually get 1.8 please?

Hi,
I am doing the Pandurs Third Person tutorial and after I click Play the second time to end the test of GetAxis Actions, the Global Variable fields reset to 'None'.

Can anyone tell me why this happens please?

Thanks mdotstrange Smooth look at did the trick.

I looked at Behaviour Designer ( as well as Rain, and ICE) and settled on Playmaker.

It seems to me as thought there is a significant overlap in their functionality - is it really beneficial to use both simultaneously? Is there an online list comparing features? Is it common for devs to use both?

I think that unless I come up against a really huge obstacle, I'll try to make the most out of PM before trying another asset (although that said, I've always like the *look* of BD+ICE)

I am trying to get the NPC to rotate to face a certain/various directions.

SetAgentAsDestination works great for actually moving the character to one (I use Empties), but turning on the spot doesn't seem to have a SetAgentRotate or similar, and Rotate isn't working. How do I rotate my character?

In trying to figure this out I thought I'd get the character's forward facing vector as well, but am stuck at that as well - if anyone has any ideas, that'd be useful. :)
