PlayMaker Help / Array Set inconsistent experience
« on: October 11, 2021, 11:38:51 AM »
I'm attempting to use Array Set.

First I create and array in the variables tab.  Give it a name and hit Add.
Defaults to Type Float.  "Size" field is visible down below.

If I deselect the array from the list and re select it, the "Size" field is missing.

If I go back to the Variables tab and set the type to Int or String for example, the array is no longer available in my set array action to pick.  This also occurs if I set the type before attempt to set it in the array set action as well.

It seems to only be available to pick in the array set action if i make a new array and not change its type. Only then will it show up in the list of arrays to use.

PlayMaker Help / How to check if two objects are overlapping?
« on: February 16, 2020, 02:34:06 PM »
Consider a player is holding an object like a battery, and when the let go of the object, the game needs to check if its overlapping the correct location where its supposed to go eg: a generator

In playmaker how to do check if two objects are overlapping?

Pseudo code: On item drop -> if battery is overlapping generator -> snap battery to generator battery compartment

One approach I've tried is that the battery is using a trigger on enter event to check which other object its constantly colliding with and storing that in a game object variable, then when the player lets go of the object I check if that variable is equal to the game object name of where it "should" go and if they match then it snaps to that position.  But i feel like there's an easier way to accomplish this.

I'm guessing this is probably just a unity thing that im not understanding, but none the less.

I'm trying to create an object variable, specifying the Unityengine.RecTransform
and i'm attempting to drag the Rec Transform component from the slider object in my scene into that field.  It works, but only when the main object that has the variable in it is not a prefab object.

i've tried making the slider object a prefab as well, but that doenst seem to work either.

Whenever I save and reload the project this link disappears and i cant figure out how to specify a unique game object component at runtime.

So how do you target a specific component, or popular the variable default value properly?

Pathfinder is a pathfinding solution on the assest store that works with both the free and pro version of unity.  Its on sale right now for 50% off.  I was wondering if anyone's made any custom actions for it? or if not, would someone be able to?

General Discussion / Bluestacks - Play Android Games on your PC

Anyone doing some unity/playmaker android development wanna test this out and report back?

Came across an interesting possible bug, but i'm not sure if its a unity or a playmaker action issue.

If you create a Get Axis Vector action but only want to use one of the axis EG: vertical
and you specify "NONE" for the other, or leave it blank, then your action will not work correctly.  The behavior of the input does not work correctly.  The vector that gets outputted does not map into a characters controller properly.  Something is screwy with the math.

However you can work around it by creating a new input type and taking out its ability to do anything but assigning the other axis to that input name eg: BLANK

then the vertical input axis store vector gets calculated correctly when using it with a controller move action for example.

This whole point is moot if you just use the custom action "Get axis vector 2" instead, but i thought i should point it out. for those who may stumble across it.

Forum Suggestions / Uservoice Feedback integration
« on: March 07, 2012, 02:36:17 PM »
There's a handy webapp (that's free for one moderator) called uservoice

Their feedback product has the ability for people to add suggestions for feature requests, or changes and then can be voted on by the forum members or guests.  This may help you determine which upcoming features to work on first based on the demand by your users.  I've seen it integrated into a number of forums before and it works great, the also have a bug tracking front end but i'm sure your already using something along those lines.

anywhoo, just thought it might be cool
