PlayMaker Help / Playing Animation

I'm using the Invector Melee Combat template. It was necessary to create a PlayMaker FSM to handle the roll animation because I am assigning more than one item on a key. The problem I'm having is playing the roll animation.

I've tried the Actions: play animation, enable animation and add animation clip. Using Play Animation, under Anim Name if I select 'roll' it does not play the animation and gives a warning 'Missing animation: roll'. If I Add Animation Clip, it says 'vPlayer Instance' must be marked as Legacy.

What is the correct action to play an animation in this situation? I don't want to change to Legacy because I need it as Humanoid for the template to work correctly.

PlayMaker Help / Press and Release (Tap) Spacebar to Fire Event

I would like to detect when the spacebar is pressed and released (tap of the spacebar), which would then fire a roll. I am also assigning Sprint on the spacebar so not wanting to use GetButtonUp or GetButtonDown for doing the roll. It would simply be a tap of the spacebar, then the player rolls. What action is necessary to do this?

I have tried GetButton, GetButtonDown, GetButtonUp, Get Key, GetKeyDown and GetKeyUp. The Get Button and Get Key works good for storing the result in a variable. The rest works good for detecting when a button is pressed down, or when the button is released, and alternatively storing in variable if needed.

However, I'm not finding a way to detect when a key is pressed and released immediately. So from the idle, run, or sprint the spacebar is tapped (pressed and immediately released), and the player rolls. Any ideas?

PlayMaker Help / Application Quit

Having problems with Application Quit. I may be setting it up wrong. This is what I did:

1. FSM on Empty Game Object.

2. Listener State: Get Key Down; Key Escape; Send Event Application Quit. (Used the System Event for Application Quit transition)

3. Quit the Game State: Action - Application Quit.

Testing in the editor, it fires without a problem when I hit the ESC key. When I play test it, it crashes every time. Any ideas? Wrong setup?

PlayMaker Help / Ecosystem 0.4.8 Errors [IGNORE]

I installed PlayMaker 1.8.3 for Unity 5.4.2, and then I installed Ecosystem from a package that I had downloaded in July of this year. I had a few errors.

I then downloaded from

once again, although it appeared to be the same version. I then got 174 errors.

I then went to GitHub and downloaded from there which was updated 18 days ago, but I am not clear how to use it.

Any suggestion on how to clean this up and get it working? Thanks.

PlayMaker Help / Helicopter Script

I purchased a script off the asset store for a helicopter. It is written in C# and works good. However, I would like to learn how to make it using PlayMaker and then save it as a template.

I will attach the script but I ask that it is not reused, sold, or otherwise distributed to protect the author and his work. I was tempted to just use the script and not learn how to do it in PlayMaker, but I am very curious to know how this is handled in PlayMaker. And with my increased knowledge I may be able to expand on the capabilities for use in my game.

If someone has the time to walk me through it, that would be great. I really don't know how to begin. I started by adding in all the variables, and I got myself a bit confused so I stopped and decided to ask for help.

Ok, I could use some help.

Problem: Using vector math, determine player location and home location. Give update on the GUI with where the player is in relation to 'home'. The player moves with WASD keys.

I attached a script that we did in a course. I'm trying to understand how to do this with playMaker which would replace the script. Also, in the script it has different key assignments but it should be simple enough to change that.

VR Help / Samsung Gear VR

I am just settling in to learn playMaker and I have no coding experience. The VR platform that I'm targeting is the Samsung Gear VR. I would like to know the items to consider before beginning development, as it relates to playMaker.

I will head over to the Android section soon and learn what I can about using playMaker on mobile. However, if anyone has come across VR specific items, or best practices, that would be helpful before I begin scripting. I'm mostly trying to put together guidelines before I get in deep and then later find out I should have done things differently.

Forum Suggestions / Site Is Very Slow

First I would like to say I appreciate that you have this forum. The information here is very useful.

However, I've noticed that that site is very slow to respond. Waiting a half minute or so for something to load and about 30% of the time it errors out and I have to start over.

Any chance of moving it over to a quicker server?

I am trying to follow along with the training video covering the Health Manager. I have read, searched, read, searched, read docs, etc... but find myself thoroughly confused and frustrated.

1. I am not able to Add GUI text unless I use UI text which adds a canvas and text. When I use UI text I am not able to add to the variable, as described in the video, which would give a value of 50 when the game is played.

2. I also tried the other method of adding GUI text by adding GameObject and then adding GUI text. Nothing is visible in the viewport. I read that the x and y values have to be between o and 1. Which I tried. I also saw many different opinions with all kinds of values to try, which I did. However, nothing worked.

3. And, of course, I tried to add GUI text exactly the way it was presented in the video but that didn't work.

This is probably very simple but so far I've lost hours trying to figure this out. Could use some help.
