Action Requests / Cinemachine - Assign Follow Object
« on: May 07, 2018, 11:34:55 AM »
I just tried creating a template FSM that'll grab my target and place it in the 'follow' area of a cinemachine virtual camera. Unfortunately, it looks like 'set property' gets pretty confused when you insert an object from a received variable. Any chance for an action, or know a way around this? I've attached 2 images. The first one works great. The second one I tried to make the working one a template, but it all started to fall a part.

After two years of development as a one-man-show, I'm FINALLY releasing Noah's Elephant in the Room. It's a Pac-Man style game where you run around Noah's ark on a giant elephant while trying to outrun Noah's 3 sons. After two years, that's the best description I can come up with for such an odd premise. :P

Here's the trailer. Hopefully it'll explain it better:

And here's a ton of gifs:

I was able to do everything in the game (minus the music). Unity is seriously an incredible tool. I've been an artist my whole life, but picked up Playmaker around 4 years ago. I've absolutely loved scripting in Playmaker and getting those 'eureka' moments each time I learned something new with it.

I'm quite proud of the game. It's definitely been the biggest game I've ever done by myself, and I can't believe it actually (hopefully) works! After two years of learning, there are SO many things I would have scripted/organized differently, but somehow it all holds together! As I move on to my next app, I'm so excited to have a clean slate again.

From the art side of things, I illustrated and animated over 150 animals and their pens, created a minute long cutscene, 25 illustrated verses. It's been an absolute beast, but I'm happy with the result.

In any case, I hope you guys enjoy it and let me know what you think! I know the subject matter can be divisive, but it's my hope to have great conversation. Feel free to ask any questions you'd like!

iOS Help / iOS 10 Privacy info
« on: February 16, 2017, 04:45:11 PM »
I'm just trying to publish my new app to iOS 10. I noticed there's a couple privacy settings that need defining, but they're for features I don't use. I'm guessing a few rogue Playmaker actions are to blame. Would this be the case?

Here's a screenshot.

iOS Help / Drag UI button in Scroll Rect[SOLVED]
« on: January 10, 2017, 06:53:43 PM »
So I'm implementing a 'More Games' section. It contains a scroll rect with a number of my other games. The user can click each banner and the game will popup.

Unfortunately, as soon as the user touches the image to drag, the link is activated. Is there a way around this? I've tried On Pointer Up and On Pointer Down. Not really sure how do do it.

PlayMaker Help / Action Disappeared
« on: March 11, 2015, 02:12:08 PM »
Not sure what's happened, but some of my actions have stopped showing up in the browser. The files are still there. When I open them up, they're all greyed out. Not sure what's up! Specifically, I'm trying to use wwwobject.cs. Below is what it looks like when I open it up! Any help would be very much appreciated, as this action is desperately needed! I've tried reimporting Playmaker to no help.

Thanks so much!

Work In Progress... / Noah's Bunny Problem
« on: February 16, 2015, 12:14:19 PM »
Hey there, guys! Just slaving away on my next game, "Noah's Bunny Problem".

The bunnies have broken free of their pen, and made their way to the deck of the ark. Now it's up to Noah to keep them from falling off the ledge and stop them from making more bunnies! It's a mix of pong and a bunny making simulator. ;)

Edit: Here's the trailer!!!!

PlayMaker Help / Collision 2d Event - Collider Gameobject not always stored
« on: February 09, 2015, 02:07:53 PM »
Hey there, guys! Alright, this has had me scratching my head for many days.

I have a bunny gameobject. The idea is that once two of these bunnies come in contact, they kiss each other and make another bunny. This is how I have it set up (screenshots attached).

Bunny collides with Bunny
Bunny stores collided bunny as a gameobject "BunnytoKiss"
Bunny then checks for a handshake, making sure that the "BunnytoKiss" also references the bunny as the "BunnytoKiss". (so they know they're going to kiss each other before any movement takes place)
Once this handshake occurs, one bunny will move into the kissing position.

Unfortunately, sometimes the gameobject variable isn't stored at collision. I have no idea what the issue is. And if this can't be solved, I'm definitely open to figuring out how two Prefab gameobjects can do a 'handshake' of sorts!

Here's a video of it in action (though the problem isn't shown in this video)

iOS Help / SetProperty not working on iOS[SOLVED]
« on: July 23, 2014, 08:07:07 PM »
I've been trying to get different aspect ratios to work in my game. In Unity everything works great; no matter what aspect ratio I choose, the camera adjusts its size, and it looks great. However, when I make an iOS build nothing happens!

I've been completely stumped on this. I've tried 2 different methods, one of my own creation and one that's worked for my friend. Both have similar results! They work in Unity, but not in iOS. The main culprit I'm finding is the 'SetProperty' action. Both FSMs I've tried use it.

Is there any secret to this? Or a workaround for aspect ratio switching? I've tried changing a few of the optimizations, but still the problem persists.

Thanks so much for your help!

UPDATE 2 Bible ABCs for Kids FREE has been released for iPhone and Android!

UPDATE Bible ABCs for Kids has been released!

Free Version: Download Here!

Hey there, everyone!

I've been figuring out Playmaker over the last 3 months, creating my game "Bible ABCs for Kids". Here's the website video featuring some gameplay.

I'm totally impressed with Playmaker. I'm an artist by trade, and my programming skills included the bare minimum to create a website in Flash.  :P 99% of what you see in the game was programmed in Playmaker. Here are some screenshots!

Lastly, you can check out a small beta! Just the capital 'A' is active at the moment. Let me know what you think!

EDIT: Just updating to the latest Beta link

I'm creating an ABCs game and this one has me scratching my head. I've gone through a ton of tutorials, but I'm just not grasping it. Here's what I'm hoping to do.

Say I'm using a capital 'A'.
-generate a little object for the player to move at the base of the 'A',
-push it along a constrained iTween path to the other side of the 'A' in an upsidedown v shape
-move to the second path
-drag the object across the second path to complete the 'A'.

I'm pretty sure I can handle everything but creating the mouse/touch action that drags the object along that path!

Thanks so much for your help! I've been scratching my head so much, I think I'm going bald in that spot! :P
