PlayMaker Help / Re: PUN 2 in 2d Project HELP!!!
« on: July 25, 2021, 03:04:51 AM »
I have made some progress on this problem. Once I get the full prototype working I plan on either posting the solution here or possibly even doing a tutorial as I'm guessing others like me might find it helpful.

Hey Prestonh...just watched that tutorial and I must say I'm more confused now than I have been during this frustrating process of trying to get Photon to work. My understanding is Photon allows a game object to sync across the view of each player in a room. So I am wondering the following:

1. What Components need to be added to the Player game object.
2. What needs to be added to the FSM to differentiate between the isMine player and the others.
3. What else needs to be done to make this work.
4. What needs to be done to instantiate the Player prefab from the Resources folder into the game.

Thanks to anyone who might know how to explain this to a non-programmer.

Thanks @Prestonh. Will check the video today! Sure hope that's what I've been looking for.

PlayMaker Help / PUN 2 in 2d Project HELP!!!
« on: July 21, 2021, 05:48:25 PM »
Hi All...I've spent the last four days going through tutorial after tutorial...and still have a couple lined up for today...but I'm just not figuring out how to get Photon 2 to work with my new 2d game. Most of the videos are about syncing 3d characters and it just isn't translating for me.

Any tutorials you might recommend or does anyone have enough experience to give a short list of what I need to do to sync a 2d sprite character?

Connecting to the server and creating rooms is clear. I just don't know exactly how to setup the character. Hopefully if I figure that out I'll also understand how to send other things like displaying a card on the other person's game, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Are the PUN actions on the Wiki page usable with Unity 2019?

PlayMaker Help / Re: Data from Google Sheets for Text Array
« on: July 13, 2021, 11:46:07 AM »
UPDATE: Did a test with I2 Localization which worked pretty well. Able to create the Google Sheet from inside the Unity Editor following their excellent instructions. Then used Playmaker to create a random key for the test data I had in the spreadsheet and was able to assign it to the text mesh pro text object. Did a quick test of a WebGL build and it worked. Now going to try it inside the actual game to make sure it not only works, but that it doesn't weigh it down.

Still, if anyone has a lighter, more elegant way of doing this do please add to the thread.

PlayMaker Help / Data from Google Sheets for Text Array
« on: July 13, 2021, 12:41:34 AM »
Hey All...

I'm creating a game which needs to have a lot of long text strings which I'm randomly generating onto cards. Years ago I used a Localization asset to do this (with some hacks) and had to generate the text like I was filling in text of different languages. It worked, but was clunky.

Now I'm wondering if there is something which would allow me to do this putting the data directly into arrays...and which has Playmaker actions.

Would like to have better tools for adding, delete and editing the data than I would have doing it directly in Unity.

PlayMaker Help / WebGL Multiplayer 2d Boardgame
« on: July 10, 2021, 07:42:58 PM »
Anyone have experience creating a multiplayer WebGL game? I'm trying to create a 2d browser based Boardgame and need to have each player see things like roll of dice, player token move on board and possibly cards being drawn.

I've read some threads here that PUN will work. Just wonder if that's the easiest solution for someone with little programming knowledge who is an intermediate user of Playmaker.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

PlayMaker Help / Color Picker with Playmaker Actions
« on: March 03, 2021, 12:43:55 AM »
I'm using the free "Flexible Color Picker" asset ( to allow players to choose colors for various parts of their avatars. The asset is excellent and support is good, but I've run into some challenges.

Is there any Color Picker available which has Playmaker actions?

PlayMaker Help / Breakpoint Not Working Sometimes
« on: January 20, 2021, 05:39:25 AM »
Hey All...

I'm having this strange problem where I set breakpoints in an FSM, but at runtime the FSM runs so fast I can't see what is happening, doesn't stop at the breakpoints and just loads the next scene which is the end of the state machine.

I'm using Unity 2019.4.15 with Playmaker 1.9.0.

iOS Help / Re: How to touch and drag a 3d object?[SOLVED]

Old thread, but since the post by SJones worked for me to be able to touch/drag a game object I thought I'd reply to ask the simple question...

How can I do this same thing on a GUI element?

PlayMaker Help / Re: Typing in Playmaker Editor SLOW

Hey Alex,

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay posting. I tried going to the Default view and ONLY added the Playmaker Editor and I'm still getting the same delay. Any other suggestions?

djaydino...first of all the project doesn't have too many FSMs especially compared to previous projects. Second, I tried a brand new projects and in the first FSM it is almost as slow as in my working project. Interestingly enough nothing else in Unity is running slowly. When I do anything else in the project it works like normal.

PlayMaker Help / Typing in Playmaker Editor SLOW
« on: September 07, 2020, 03:57:22 AM »
For the past weeks I've been having a very annoying problem. Typing in the editor has become horribly slow. If I'm typing the name of a state or FSM or the description it shows what I've typed at the rate of about one character per second (I tested it with a stopwatch.) This is leading to a lot of errors, slowing development and making me wonder what could have happened. Hope someone has some insights.

I'm using: Playmaker 1.9.0p20 in Unity 2019.4.1f1
