Thanks for the suggestion wheretheidivides and serene fox, but I think I'd rather save the $25 bucks and figure it out myself, it's more meaningful that way. 

There has to be some kind of action out there that will translate a float var to a vector to allow movement along the x axis right?

mdotstrange, right now I have it set up as a sprite that has a mask component, I just need to get it to slide to the left or right as damage is taken and healed.

I'm trying to get my health bar working.  I've followed this tutorial until the scripting came into play: It seems really simple and would work great in playmaker.  I pretty much have everything set up except for the following:

  • 1. The character will take damage and health and it is reflected in the CurrentHealth global var but I'm not sure how to take that number and translate it in to movement of my HealthBar sprite.
  • 2. How can I set a minimum and maximum health (0-100 or something) so that the player can't receive or lose more or less health than that?

Here's an example of my health bar and how I would like it to work.

I tried to use this but you didn't show what actions you had on the Health Listener.  I've been trying to get a health bar working and this one looks promising so far.

I've tried to install ArrayMaker a couple of times now because I'm trying to get an inventory system put together.  Every time I get everything in there it just give me a bunch of errors about ES2Web not being correct and telling me everything is obsolete and that I need to change lines of code,  I don't know what to change it to that's why I'm using playmaker.  Anyone else having this problem?

You're right Justifun, I found this video tutorial on another thread When I tried to parent the camera to the player it rotated along with the character.  To fix this I ended up adding this simple controller to my character and then created an empty game object with the same controller on it minus any rotation.  It works for now anyway, we'll see if that causes problems down the road.  This is only used for my "over world" area, any interiors will have a fixed camera.  Now player and camera are loaded dynamically in each scene and it's very clean.

Thanks for this tutorial!  I've tried to do this in several other ways and this is by far the simplest one and it works great for what I needed it for.

I've been messing with this for a couple days now as I think it's what I need.  My character loads in the scene as a prefab with the camera attached.  For some reason my character will not move directionally but will only rotate despite setting up everything exactly as Justifun did in the video (which I've watched backwards and forwards trying to troubleshoot the problem).  I did get the character to move once by switching the global variable to Rotation Axis instead of Player Axis Magnitude, however the character will only move directionally after rotating to the right first, very strange.  Perhaps I'm missing a script or something somewhere?  Any ideas or tip would be appreciated.

Additionally, I'm trying to figure out how to get the camera to follow the character by moving along the xz plane but not rotating when the character turns.  I'm guessing it has something to do with getting the rotation axis and making it negate a global rotation variable?

Thanks Mark, I fiddled with it a bit and got it working.  Looks like I wasn't doing the actual creation of the player prefab correct, I had the spawn location set as where they were coming from instead of where they were going so the compare to string was hitting a dead end.  Now it's working beautifully.

Any tips on getting the main camera to follow the player(clone) when they are spawned in the scene?  I'm thinking it has something to do with the main camera following game objects tagged with player.  I'll mess with it.

Also in the Spawn_Control FSM where it says Compare To, what's supposed to go in there exactly?  The scene or a spawn sphere or something else?  I wish there was a video of this so I could see the full layout and how it's really set up.

I'm building a game that is something like Zelda meets Animal Crossing so I've been trying to implement this and it doesn't seem to work for me, the character always spawns at the location of whichever spawn sphere is first in the list regardless if the sphere is even in the scene.  This has been giving me a headache all day, any pointers?
