Feature Requests / Action Browser search auto expand toggle for categories

Can we get a toggle to collapse select categories either all the time or while in a filter search?

I use a short action browser and a lot of times my filter search auto selects something from the animation group or something and the preview takes up all of the space, it would be nice to be able to force the ones that cause trouble to collapse all of the time or be able to collapse them after it searches and take the preview away so I can see the results better

Just curious, I've been tinkering with the idea of making a prototype citybuilder type game and was curious if anyone had approached that with playMaker yet.


Action Requests / GUILayout.Window and GUI.Window?

Am I confused or is the Window GUI action missing from the list? Is there another way to do the window system?

All of the GUI examples I can find are using Window methods. Opening a few of the PM action scripts I don't see any reference to Window's and they're all over the place in the regular GUI scripts.

I've bought a GUI and can't seem to use it properly without them and would rather not script all my GUI by hand or butcher the Skin I've bought that already works perfectly fine using Window's.

User Showcase / AngryShips Prototyping Progress

It's been about ten days since I got PlayMaker and started digging in and this is the progress I've made on the prototype game.

So far a there is a somewhat working system for Health, Damage, Projectiles, Interchangeable weapons, Shopping and Interacting. At least from the work so far you can see there is a decent foundation to work with so I'm pretty stoked about that.

At this point I haven't found really anything that I can't accomplish with PlayMaker and I'm pretty happy with the groundwork. I need to clean up a reliable system for interacting with NPC's, globalize some shopping actions and inventory and work out the HUD stuff among other things before I can really more into building bunches of art assets.

Anyway, here is a package that might help new users take a glance at one way that these things can be accomplished. I plan on updating this and building a small level with everything working 100% with graphics and AI to offer to everyone and then moving forward for a more working game with more levels.

PlayMaker Help / Send Event problem

I think I'm running into a speed problem. I have this setup but it isn't throwing the Event on the projectile. See images.

Basically the weapon Creates the bullet object, stores it as a variable then next does a send event to that stored variable to tell it either a player or enemy fired it. I do this so I don't have to have enemy projectiles and player projectiles separately. This idea came from the problem that the projectiles were spawning inside the shield-like collider around the player and immediately colliding with him so it was necessary to define an originator tag or something and exclude that from its collisions.

I think the problem is that the send event is firing before the object is created and able to receive commands because when I test it and fire away then i see the bullets are hanging up on the Setup phase. The event is global and I've recreated it several times.

Ideas? I thought about throwing a bool to tell it when it can receive info and having the weapon wait for that but all that will do is clog things up it seems.

PlayMaker Bug Reporting / Global Variables list updates?

So I noticed today while cleaning up my var's that the Global Variables list changes its count depending on what items that have FSM's I have clicked and then return to click inside the GV list it refreshes different counts. I'm not sure how the count routine works but is this intended?

Also, is there a way to clean out the Custom Events list?

PlayMaker Help / SimpleMove and others Vector 3 variable?

So this tool is made for artists so I'm going to assume that asking really stupid questions about a visual scripting tool or programming is okay =)

When I add an Action like Character > Simple Move... What is the vector 3 variable? I can't figure out what to do with that and every action i add seems to want it. The drop down is empty and I don't understand how to "get" the vector3 variable or whatever it wants.

I'm trying to do basic independent WASD movement on a top down shooter and aim at the mouse pointer.
