Update: There is still a bit of lag, but deactivating the Real-Time Error Checker seemed to help a lot!

PlayMaker Help / Tips for Reducing Playmaker Editor Window Lag?

I've been using playmaker for a couple years now, and one thing that has always annoyed me is how editing FSMs can get very laggy in big projects.

The main project I've been working on is pretty big and contains a lot of assets and FSMs, and there's always some amount of lag involved when it comes to editing FSMs. Delays when entering text is the main thing I've noticed but it happens in a lot of different places. Using unrelated playmaker stuff in the unity editor works fine and is smooth most of the time, it mostly seems pretty consistently related to playmaker.

I've upgraded this project before and that made it stop for a little bit, but eventually, it came back. I was thinking of doing that again and updating this project to the latest version of Unity (2020.1 and playmaker but I want to do that as a last resort.

Any suggestions?

Current version of Unity is: 2019.2.5f1
Current version of Playmaker is: 1.9.0.p4

No problem! I never use it, pretty much exclusively use "Ease" actions whenever I need to animate a variable.

Tip: The "Ease Type" option within the action is a really useful and fun thing to play around with if you haven't already. Lets you easily do smooth ease in/out or other cool effects

Try using the Ease Float action again instead of the lerp, much easier to work with imo. Set the finished event to FINISHED or whatever custom event you need. I attached screenshots of an example of how it works recreating what you're trying to do

The attached example worked for smoothly changing the camera fov when I tried it

Make sure you are setting the property of the camera fov to the float variable you are animating in the same state you are animating the variable in

So your "camera Fov" variable should be getting set to the camera every frame in States 2 and 3

Hey 'enable collider' custom action works great! Thanks djaydino!

I didn't know about get/set not working properly on other platforms, I'll try to minimize my use of those, thanks foro the heads up!

PlayMaker Help / Set Property on Variable gameObject?

is there a way to use the "Set Property" action on a variable gameObject?

I found this old thread but I didn't understand what Kiriri was saying:

What I am basically trying to do is turn off the collider of a gameObject when the player picks it up. I already have a way of storing the gameObject the player picks up in a variable. I just want to be able to turn off the collider off of the gameObject that is currently stored in that variable when an event fires.

I'm doing it this way because there will be a large variety of different objects the player can pick up and I don't want to add scripts that do this to each object, but I suppose I could if it comes to that.

I just wanted to report in with saying that this still happens. The fix craigz posted seems to work for permanently deleting the corrupted variable, but it is still a massive pain to deal with.

Hi Jean, thanks for the info! That's good to know

What if I zipped up my project and sent  it to another person to work on, would they have to have Playmaker installed beforehand for my FSMs to work? Or would Playmaker be included in the project?

PlayMaker Help / Using Playmaker in a Collaborative/Team Setting
« on: July 23, 2019, 06:14:11 PM »

I have a question about using playmaker in a team environment.

Particularly how well Playmaker works when being used with version control software such as Perforce and other collaboration software.

Basically, I want to use playmaker while working with a team and I want to know if I send them my project to work in will any functionality I made in Playmaker still work?

Thanks Djay, I'll check that vid out!
