General Discussion / Get Property gets lost.
« on: April 23, 2014, 07:20:47 AM »
I've had a few occurances where my Get Property action seems to lose it's target object for seemingly no reason at all.
Does anyone know why this can happen? Is there a way to avoid it, or is this just a bug?

It's annoying because the game stops working and there is no warnings or errors given despite this action having no target object set.

PlayMaker Bug Reporting / A few little things..
« on: April 23, 2014, 04:07:04 AM »
Hi, I've spotted a few little bugs while using Playmaker over the last few weeks. Some maybe things that I am doing wrong of course...

-Prefabs don't always update their fsms. This seems especially true when I change my prefab to reference to a global gameObject. All my instances still retain the original (non global) gameobject reference.

-The lock button is TINY!!  :P I find that I need to use this a lot, but for some reason you've made it it tiny. ?!?!

-The error reporting of prefabs connections to objects in scene seems to be random. Sometimes I get the errors and sometimes I don't. I'm not sure that they should automatically clear out all of your get property settings within a state either when this happens.

-ArrayMaker 'Clear Array' Seems to delete the array rather than just clear it.

General Discussion / Resources.Load
« on: April 17, 2014, 08:28:32 AM »
I want to instance objects at runtime from a string.(All I have is the name of the object)

I can do this in code using Resources.Load but how can I do this from within playmaker? The 'Create Object' action only seems to load by 'GamObject' type.

General Discussion / Re: How in depth is playmaker?

Personally speaking I went through 3 phases..

1: First impressions! Wow look I can create little snippets of stuff really easy!

2: First Project Attempt: Oh my god my code has turned into spaghetti and I can't find anything..I'm doomed!! I hate playmaker! Back to coding..

3: Actually with a bit of practice, learning all the available actions, debugging tools, using templates, prefabs etc correctly, things are really starting to progress really quickly.

So far so good!

General Discussion / Mouse Drag, Over, Exit,Enter etc
« on: April 16, 2014, 07:47:42 AM »
None of this seems to work well with DK forge. Whats' worse is that they have their own bunch of actions built for this which dont work either.

I am trying to create a drag and drop recycle bin in my game but it's pretty much impossible using DK and Playmaker at the moment. I have resorted to just building a 3d bin to test my mouse events.

Any plans to fix this?

Cool cheers!

The action is just a renamed Send Message action :)

I rename pretty much everything so I can read what's going on. Adding comments fields takes too long for me :)

General Discussion / Send Message..Can't send the Owner as a parameter
« on: April 15, 2014, 08:18:04 AM »
I'm trying to use send a message from an FSM which adds a box collider in script.

However, my script requires a gameObject argument. (which defines the object to place the component on)

For some reason I cant seem to pass Use Owner in send message like I can normally.

How can I achieve this?

Thanks although I have no idea how to add/import individual custom actions. Is this planned for release in an update of playmaker?

I want to know if I'm running through the editor or on a device. Is there an action with Playmaker to do this?

Its okay, I figured out how to use arraymaker in the end so I'm happy with that. Thanks!

PlayMaker Help / Is this a bug?
« on: April 11, 2014, 07:03:15 AM »
I am trying to get a reference to a gameObject from a prefab..So in my prefab I need a GameObject Find action...but the action looks like this..(attached)

Shouldn't it have somewhere to input the name of the object I'm looking for??

Hi I can use Get Property to sccess the variables on a script but this action doesnt seem to be able to access arrays. How can I do this?

P.S>.I took a look at ArrayMaker and I can't find how to do it with this either.
