PlayMaker Help / Re: How to add footstep sounds when working with Mecanim
« on: October 10, 2014, 10:18:59 PM »
What I do is add animation events to the animation clip mecanim is using-

So for footsteps I'll use "SendEvent" to send an event called "footstep" it will send those events to fsm's on the object with the animation clips-

Then I have a simple fsm with an empty start state- and a transition called "footstep" the state that goes to uses "Play random sound" and I drop a couple different footstep sounds in there-

So to recap I add animation events on the keyframes where the feet touch the ground- and send events on those frames to play random footstep sounds-

I saw this thread and thought new functionality was added in 1.8 for pooling

But if the tools are already in there I should get started on creating a pooling system now- thanks!

Can't wait! I'm really looking forward to it especially if we can create our own pooling solutions with Arraymaker

Share New Actions / SetParticleMaterialColor and SetTexture
« on: October 02, 2014, 04:03:38 AM »
I simply modified existing actions to make these-

SetMaterial doesn't allow you to change the color of particle materials so thats what this action does- you can change Particle material colors with it

SetTexture allows you to set a texture variable

Would using a clamp action on the rotation help?

PlayMaker Bug Reporting / Global variable deleted itself
« on: September 24, 2014, 11:45:08 PM »
I had an issue tonight where I accidently chose "paste actions replace" instead of paste before when pasting an action- So I did an undo and re-pasted it- I went to set one of the parameters using a global variable but it was not listed-

I had just used it seconds before- its the variable that declares my player character-

I quit unity/restarted- still not listed so I quit again and looked into the playmaker global variables file- the variable was not found- I opened up my backup project from yesterday and opened that global variables file- I copied the missing varible entry and pasted into the newer global variables file- everything works again but if I didn't have the backup that would have sucked-

I'm not sure what caused the global variable to be deleted but it sure gave me a scare 0_0

PlayMaker Help / Re: Accessing array on another class from a FSM
« on: September 01, 2014, 06:20:24 PM »
Yeh sometimes its tough to get 3rd party scripts to interact with PM- most of the time I try to just rebuild the functionality with PM-

Perhaps you need another script that can add to the array? Then you can execute the script with PM by enabling/disabling it-

btw Arraymaker is pretty easy to use once you understand the basics if you want to rebuild the arrays functionality in PM

Have you tried using the "get property" action? Drop the script with the array in there and see if you can access it

In a recent game I needed to move the character controller with a physics force and ran into the same problem- I ended up using the "controller move" instead-

I'm having the exact same issue- what did you have to fix in your situation to get it working correctly? Thanks
