There is a "check if file exists" action on the ecosystem iirc. You could use it to check if the savefile exists and if it doesn't you simply don't trigger the load action.

Heyo,

here's an excellent tutorial series for the new uGUI system:

It is done with very little code and the code bits that are used can very easily be replaced with the playmaker actions for uGUI.

(I'm not a programmer myself and those tutorials helped me a great deal to make nice looking and animated menus in a very short period of time... the only thing he does in code is basically a manager keeping track of which menu is open and changing bool values in the animator, setting up a basic FSM to do the same took me roughly 10-20 minutes)

Hey,
I'm pretty new myself (started ~4 weeks ago with unity/playmaker) so my advice might not be the best or most elegant solution for your problem... but I've started using the animator for my menus recently to get slideIn/Out & fadeIn/Out effects going there.

I think you can achieve what you are looking for this way quite easily.

Here's a pretty indepth Tutorial Playlist on the whole uGUI system using the animator for menu navigation that helped me a lot in this regard.

Heyo,

complete beginner here with no prior programming knowledge.^^

I'm trying my hands at a kind of adventure company management style game and am currently working on generating randomized heroes for the player to recruit.

At the moment I'm utilizing GoogleFu to supply a list of possible names for the generator, but what I'd like to have is for players to be able to easily expand the pool of available names for those heroes, preferably via simply editing a .txt file or something similar.

Is there already a way to do something like this that I'm just not seeing? Maybe an addon I've missed?

I'd be grateful for some pointers and maybe a gentle shove in the right direction.
