Hello, I am self-taught with lots of help from you all in my desire to learn more about the development process of game development.
I decided to recreate resident evil as a learning exercise.
My recreation is somewhat different from the original mine is (top-down) style.
I downloaded and play the original steam HD version of the game in order to recreate the environment and have prototyped some of the challenges, at least a few; I have successfully implemented with playmaker

.
My latest challenge is in the attempt to provide a saving and loading system similar to the actual game.
Hi, here is a short video showcasing my current stage of development:
https://app.box.com/s/w0uckcn3dwz177jlls48kwpcr8u5xq9uWhen you save the player and current enemies are also saved along with their positions and health these can be loaded later as shown in the video.
(naturally, the enemies should never be this close to the save and loading location).
I am having difficulty understanding how to manage the possible pick up items.
There is only one scene, with all of the possible pickup items in their desired place.
I do this with the handgun.
Actually, it's always there just before you load but managed instantly so you can't have one in the inventory and pick up the one that would be there without being managed.
That's ok for just one item, but not for multiple items of the same type.
The inventory items are saved when you save and are loaded when you load.
I noticed from playing the original game that firstly it loads before you get the chance to choose to load from a previously saved slot or start a new game.
I need your help in understanding the correct way to set up mine correctly.
Thank you for your time, patience and help.
kind regards
