2d footsteps and echoes

So this is kinda a two-part problem. I wanted to make characters have footstep sound effects whenever they move but the only tutorial i've found is specifically for 3d games. What would be the optimal way to set it up in a 2d game? Also since there will be caves, I wanted to see if there was a way to create echo effects with Playmaker. The tutorials I've found involve programming and were a little confusing. Any advice helps.

Hi.
You can set event on the animator and use 'Set State' or 'Send Event'
You need to set a fsm on the object that has the animator

then for sound, there are some assets that automatically adjust sound fx
