The Cellular Level is a 2D eat-em-up inspired by the likes of Feeding Frenzy, Flow and the opening stages of EA’s Spore.

You can play the game in your browser right here:

Click and drag to guide your cell through a microscopic world. Eat amoebas and food particles to increase your biomass and spend this organic matter on upgrades to improve your cell’s abilities. Avoid eating inorganic matter and steer clear of other hostile cells that threaten to steal your biomass.

The objective of the game is to get as big as possible and to stay alive for as long as you can.

Difficulty increases as you grow, but does not decrease when you shrink.

The Cellular Level is our first completed project made using the Unity game engine. It was scripted almost entirely in Playmaker (with just one or two custom tweaks here and there).

The soundtrack was composed by Scott Wilco, so if you enjoy what your earholes consume while playing the game then you can find similar stuff over on the boy's YouTube and Bandcamp pages.

For those who might be curious, here’s a list of all assets used in production:

It was originally conceived as an iPad game (hence the resolution of the player window), but it may need a bit more bug hunting and a few bits of polish here and there before it’s ready for submission to the arbiters of the Apple App Store.
So sit back, relax, listen to the music and get munchin’.
