Screen Resolution
« on: February 07, 2016, 05:10:35 AM »
Hi!

I tried my game on my Mac Book Pro, but the resolution is lower, so the part of the game is off the screen. Is it a way to solve this, so the game works perfect independent of the computer resolution?

Hi!

Not the canvas this time! The width of the screen is not the same on a Laptop as a Desktop computer, so everything which is placed close to the screen edge will not be visible on a smaller screen like a Laptop.

I will take a screen shot.

Here is two screenshots. Both are taken with my iMac. Just changed the resolution on how it will look like on my Mac Book Pro.

The first one is how it looks like on my iMac
The second one is how it looks like on my Mac Book Pro.

Hi!

Now I took one screenshot of the game on my Mac Book Pro. The resolution is 1440x900, the highest. The game is 1920x1080.

I just wonder how I can make the game work perfect on all kind of screen sizes.

Not sure if this would help, but are you using the uGUI system for the menus? If uGUI is correctly setup those buttons should be in the correct spot no matter the resolution.
For a quick test you just can try to resize your game view and see if the objects are in the right position (unless you reduce the size dramatically).

Hi!
I don't use the u GUI system. I placed all the menu buttons as a child under an empty game object, but I can try to use u GUI. Just create a new u GUI image and add the menu images there.

That's the way I do it for my UI elements so my buttons will always keep the right position no matter the resolution. I'm not an expert, but so far that's the best way I found to avoid that kind of issues.

The menu is good now, both on iMac and Mac Book Prod. :) But the levels are a little bit smaller horizontally on the Mac Book Pro.

Here are two screen shots. The first one is from the iMac.
The second one is from the Mac Book Pro.
The rest of the UI in the level are not yet corrected, but take a look at the size different horizontally. Is it a way to fix this?
