Camera Fade Out doesn't work with Rift?

Hello. My game uses a blink teleportation system. you click the spot you want to go to, the camera fades out, you get moved, and the camera fades back in.

The problem is, on my computer screen, which shows the view of inside the Rift headset, the fade to black happens normally. but inside the Rift itself, I see no fadeout, and you just teleport quickly. Anyone have any clue how to correct this or at least why it's doing that? This function has NEVER worked with my Rift, although it worked a year ago with my DK2 setup and earlier versions of every piece of software.

unity 5.4.1p1 Personal.
playmaker  1.8.3f4
