Ideas for starting a grid-based game?
« on: May 05, 2017, 03:50:52 PM »
I've been playing with some ideas for a grid-based game, but I'm having trouble imagining how I'd go about making it in PlayMaker. If anyone has any ideas on how to approach this, or even PlayMaker-friendly editor extensions/etc, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

For example, I have no idea how I'd do the following:

- Snap an object to grid cells as the player drags it (like placing a path or building)
- Detect what's placed in adjacent cells (for example, changing which type of path displays based on what's near it)

I'm also thinking about how I'd build the level itself. My idea involves small grids, about 12x12, so I could create some sort of grid cell prefab, duplicate it, and place it manually. But I'm wondering if there are other solutions or approaches that anyone has tried for this?

Thankful to hear anyone's thoughts on this!
