Sorry i must have missed your post.
Maybe the camera is not in the right position,
also in add torque X must be device_x and Z must be device_y
I tested with unity remote and it seems to work fine
Try 1st only to set X (left and right) on the add torque action
(y and z should be none, space 'world' and force mode 'Force'
if its going the wrong direction you should rotate the y rotation from the camera (rotate in steps of 90)
then set the Z value (device_y).
