How can I polish my game ?
« on: August 31, 2020, 08:43:52 PM »
Hello !

I made a WebGL game and sent it to Armorgames. This is what they replied

Quote
This game is more what we are looking for, but sadly is lacking polish. If you do end up spending more time on it and want to pitch the game again, feel free to send it back over!
Thank you,

Just check it and give me inputs on what to polish. I really bad @ design works. So, I can give a try.

I attached screenshot of Main Menu and Gameplay too

You can play the game here. https://antizombiesquad.000webhostapp.com/

- All Levels Open Now
- WASD/Arrow Keys to look around the map
- Click the Unit to select and click on map to move.
- Survive all waves and Defend target with given Units
- Placement of Units is key for victory.

Thanks

Hi.
I played thru the 1st mission and this is what i listed so far.
Everything i mention is just to help improve :)

Quote
Frames around mission and the story/objective
separate Story and objective in someway (for example separate box or different background color for each part)

you can also try having the game darken and highlight the popups.

music and sound on menu.

option to turn on/off music only and have fx sound (now there is only music
and have some sound and visuals for movement
now its hard to notice if you select a character.
when selecting a character you could let him say something, for example 'Sir?' and when you select a position to move let him say 'Yes Sir!' or 'Roger' (best is to have multiple clips and you can randomly have different ones every time)
Also on selecting have something to indicate its selected.
for example have a bright circle on the floor below the character.

after selecting a character and you moved him you need to select the character again to move him again, it would be better if character stays selected.
also if a character is selected and you click a different character it will not select the other character and it will move the previous selected character.

Lighting and shadows everything looks very flat trees and building don't have any shadows.
Also i think for this kind of game everything is very bright.

add a exit button

zombies just dissapear, give them some die animation
also some health indication on zombies and characters.

no fx sounds like shooting / dying

zombies left counter :
on start of a wave the number starts counting up, this should indicate the amount from the start of the wave.
when wave clear there is no clear in indication that the wave is done.

When characters are standing still, have some idle animations on it

When Level Passed player should be able to go to next level directly (now you can only go to main menu)

After clearing the mission there is no indication in the main menu that the mission has been cleared.

when setting full screen the ui is messed up.

The game concept is nice and enjoyable, but at the moment it looks more like a prototype than a full game :)

The graphics look nice but it seems that it is hosted on a free server, making the player feel insecure as their efforts may be lost. :'(

Wow you made WebGL game? crazy? can I make similar game? and how can I make?

I see you're advertising your two apps in your post, so you know how to make a game. You're also posting on Playmaker's official forum. The answer to your question should therefore be obvious.  ;)
