How to start as a beginner in game design?
« on: January 10, 2021, 12:37:47 PM »
Hello everyone!

I'm completely new to the topic of game design, but i'm super hyped to create my very own game. I decided to use PlayMaker bc it seemed to me as one of the easieste ways to get started :)

I've also watched a few tutorials on youtube, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask the experts her ;)

How do I get started? Where do I begin? Do you have some advice for me?

Thanks a lot to all of you!
Petra :)
Forget the name
and play the game.

I really recommend starting with the Jonathan O'Duffy course on the tutorials page, and go through every lesson methodically.

Finish the course, then throw yourself into a game. Once you've started a project expect to have many frustrating times, and difficult challenges, but huge moments of self satisfaction and growth.

Good luck!

As soon as I started to learn Playmaker, I aimed to make a prototype of flappy bird in one days. but, it took a week to get it done. just take small game ideas and make a prototype of it. then, scale it up.
