array transfer question
« on: February 18, 2021, 02:25:51 AM »
I posted this in general discussion before i saw this category so i'm reposting here:

So the array transfer action has little to no explanation in the playmaker manual.
Next why is there not an enum for past to 'value' (only same value, start or end)?
Next what do the copy functions mean? i mean copy/cut are self explanatory but what is nullify?
Does that mean an int array that has a value of 76 at element 76, does element 76 revert to a value of 0 but stay at element 76?

i guess my point is i'm using arrays for traders in my game. I have tried to set out arrays for the player and trader to 'transfer' to, if i use copy, the element is still available in the trader array (meaning i'd need some sort of test to prove that array item isn't needed). If i use cut, the element is deleted from the array, thus making the paste to same value useless, because the value has moved to a different element. If i could cut to 'value' it would definitely fix the problem.

I've checked ecosystem i can't find an array transfer 2/+, if there is one let me know.

 i might also add i am using a workaround, of manually setting the the player inventory at 'value' then setting the trader inventory value to 0, so an int compare will just skip the 0's. Still messy, could be fixed with a single enum.

tested: yes nullify does what I thought, still an addition to the manual would be helpful. I realise the current generation won't read manuals and jump on discord, twitter, fakebook. I prefer to just read what was intended. Also the enum i suggested would still be helpful.

Hi.
I would suggest using Array Maker (Ecosystem) instead of the build in Arrays.

this video might help :

do you really? or was it just another darklight advertisment. because array maker refers to unity 4. Is there really anything in a unity 4 package i need, or was this just a darklight ad? SERIOUSLY drop your ad, especially when you won't respond to playmaker users because of your NDA. I for one, WON'T buy your game, based on how often i've had your game pushed down my throat. This is playmaker, NOT steam, NOT origin, NOT epic, NOT App store or whatever  apple are calling their pathetic app store. you get my point. Whats jean fabres latest game??? You get my point?

Hi.
I don't know what your problem is, but your attitude does not fit here on the forums.

Unity package 4 means its compatible since unity version 4, not that it only works for version 4.

Also i did respond and explained what to do, i only said that the setup i could not show.

For showing my game, you are the first to complain!
You might see it on many post as I'm helping people a lot on the forum!

@RAVEN001

1. I agree with djaydino, Array Maker is a much more flexible and robust solution that should suit your needs.

2. Again, I agree with djaydino. Your nasty attitude does not belong on these forums. He is simply trying to help and you respond by aggressively attacking signature. Not cool.

Whooaaa, dude, what happened?

I really appreciate all the help you're giving me with the raycast thing, but attacking djaydino for his Darklight sig is really rude and out of order. Come on man, djaydino is cool, and is an incredible source of inspiration, knowledge and help for people like me (n00bs) who are on a mission to learn and create.

I would have given up many many months ago if it wasn't for djaydino's help, and the idea that he might be put off from being active on the forum because it's become toxic is no good for anyone.

We're in this together, let's be cool. Please.

YES. ok. I was out of line with the way i approached my complaint. I was tired and cranky and the only response i got was to install a package deprecated by playmaker 3-4 revisions ago. But, as i have said to alex in a private message about etiquette, i don't see anywhere in the forums T&C's that we should be 'Subject to advertising material as we see fit'. I'm sure alex, jean, and any other moderators have their own projects going, NONE of them have this MASSIVE ad which takes up 2/3 of my 4k monitor.

But you can't deny you have denied somebody help based on an NDA. Well, if you have an NDA in place, im pretty sure its safe to assume, you have EVERY possible FSM in your game, so what is the point of you?

And lastly. I'm toxic? this is the way i would speak if you were standing in front of me. This isn't some sort of socialist utopia where everyone gets along. If your so precious, get off the internet.

@RAVEN

Wow buddy, this is how you speak to people who spend their time to help you when you're tired and cranky?

If you just spent some time to suck it up and wipe away your angry tears you would see what djaydino said in his reply:

Unity package 4 means its compatible since unity version 4, not that it only works for version 4.

Do you get what that means or do you need someone to say it nice and slow so you can understand? It's simple really, you download the package and see if it suits your needs. I'm sure you would be more productive if you spent more time investigating solutions rather than moaning about the size of djaydino's signature. It takes up 2/3 of your 4k monitor? Bitch please...  ::)

To quote what some asshole in this thread said: If your so precious, get off the internet.

Hi.
Again Array maker is not deprecated at all!

if a package on the Ecosystem has only 1 version it means that it still works on newer versions.
Many actions are even older that unity 5.6 and they still work....

The link does not take 2/3 of your screen, if so the must be something wrong with your browser settings...
Also the game is made by playmaker and a good reference to see what you can achieve with playmaker...

Again i did not deny to help as i gave solutions on how to...
You complain against me, but did you help by making a sample?....
You only suggested to buy an asset, which the person might not be able to purchase. for you $15 might not be much but is some countries this is a 3 days salary wage.
And after that you start attacking him...

The internet might not be 'some sort of socialist utopia'
That does not mean that we need to accept this kind of behavior!

As it seems like the message from Alex did not help i will have to warn you in public.
Our forum is know to be friendly and helpful and we do not and should not accept this kind of behavior, which also counts for our discord channel and other mediums.

@Groo Gadgets
Thank for the support but lets not lower to his level ;)

Sorry mate, I just can't stand internet bullies so I wanted to take the opportunity to put him in his place before he's inevitably kicked off the forum   ;)

"That does not mean that WE need to accept this kind of behavior!"

Well the confirmation of a socialist is that you reply FOR THE PEOPLE, NOT reply to the comment, because if i offended anyone, it was you DJAYDINO.

Been months now and you know what? you were no help and WOW, you definitiely have the fan boy vote, your obnoxious ad is gone, so my complaint is gone, i never got banned, no matter how tired or cranky, and your answer was garbage, The arraymaker package is deprecated, and there is nothing in the BASE playmaker package that doesn't cover ANYWHERE near what i want from an ARRAY. Any arraymaker actions require an array maker proxy, but any body answering a question with "arraymaker package" as an answer would know that. Sure in arraymaker package there is the "enum builder" but where is the documentation for that. All i wanted was cut+paste to have an enum of PASTE TO number/element. If you're that ignorant, and expect me to deal with the enum's i've been provided, WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS FORUM???? ban me i no longer give a shit.

Well this went off the rails.

If you have a problem with someone then take it up privately with them instead having an abusive rant publicly on the internet.

Since this thread has nothing to do with the original question, which was already answered anyway, and derailed into oblivion it is being locked. If something is unclear about the solution then feel free to start a new thread minus the aggression.
