The problem with database and PlayMaker is that it's impossible to cover all possible cases with simply actions. I am in the middle of creating a wizard that allow the creation of simple actions to access databases. I think this connect php would fit very well.
I will get in touch with the author of this connect php to see if he's interested to get on board this work.
Pm me if you need some special work meanwhile, as really, it might simply be easier to create custom action for your specific needs to start with.
