Strange jerkiness with Rigid Body powered by force?
« on: November 16, 2012, 09:56:29 PM »
I have this scene that I setup for an experiment and I noticed that the ball that I'm applying force to (and some rotation) is kind of jerking every frame or so. I'm not entirely sure why it's happening but it's pretty annoying. I have Force Add set to a key press of spacebar on the parent object of the sphere, and then I have a camera with a parent that's linked to transform the camera to look at it.

I just bought Playmaker and I'm pretty new to Unity so it could very possibly be user error, but any help is appreciated. Also, I was curious if anybody might happen to have some free time to help me via skype or AIM or something with a couple of other small questions about Playmaker. I'm a 3d artist previously from AAA dev so I'm trying to make the transition over to working on my own ideas, been trying to learn how to prototype stuff quickly to see if the ideas I have in mind are even feasible before I make a bunch of art assets.

Thanks! :D

Hi,

Can you double check the following:

in your scene view, NOT your gameview, is the sphere also jerky? if it is not then it's simply your camera follow action that should work on late or fixed update and not on "update". For this I created several improved versions of smoothing actions:

http://hutonggames.com/playmakerforum/index.php?topic=2564.0

they allow you to define at what point during the frame you want to proceed.

if you are using one of them ( "smooth follow" or "Move towards") then this is likely what I explained above.

else, I am not too sure... :)

bye,
