Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some guidance as I take my project from a JavaScript/Canvas implementation into Unity using Playmaker. A few years ago, I developed a space strategy game entirely in JavaScript using the canvas element. In my game, players manage planets, send units, and deal with dynamic game elements such as power-ups, moving units, and collisions.
Now, I’m ready to bring my project into Unity (using a 2D Core setup) and finally put Playmaker to use. However, I’m running into some difficulties getting started. I’m specifically looking for advice or even a basic starting template that includes:
Camera Setup: How to properly configure the camera so that it displays my game field effectively.
Game Field Configuration: A framework for setting up a game field (or play area) where I can place my prefabs such as planets, unit nodes, asteroids, and power-ups.
Prefab Arrangement: Best practices for creating and organizing my prefabs in Unity, ensuring they work seamlessly with Playmaker FSMs.
I’ve already worked on all the core gameplay mechanics in JavaScript, but transitioning that logic to Unity with Playmaker is proving to be more challenging than I anticipated. Since I purchased Playmaker years ago, I’d really like to start using it, but I’m finding the initial setup rather overwhelming.
If anyone has a simple starting point or can share a sample project/setup that covers the basics (camera, game field, prefab integration with Playmaker), I would greatly appreciate your help!
Thanks in advance for any tips or resources you can provide.
Best regards my bras
