Blender 3D
« on: November 29, 2013, 04:49:04 PM »
I have asked for this before, maybe. But I found an online course in Blender.
Is Blender good for beginners? I also have cheetah 3D and Silo 2, but I can't find a course for it. Maybe it's some tutorials here and there, but I want an online course step by step.

Personally I love blender for more in depth tutorials try cg cookie they have lots of free tutorials but most you must be a citizen and require subscription.

I use Blender now for all of my personal projects. The game I'm working on now is all Blender:

I bought Silo a few years back but the support for it has basically died off, and given that it's purely a modeling/UVing tool, you can't really finish a project with it if you want to have animated things.

The Blender community is also super active, which is always a boon for 3D software. Once you get your head around it, it does everything you want. I actually prefer it for most things now, aside from sculpting.

Blender is a good and well supported program.

There are ample tutorials for it on youtube and its a good foundation for modelling fundamentals so if you decide to switch to Max or Maya later you'll be able to carry a lot of your skills over easily and just need to learn new controls. I don't think you need a course to teach you how to use it, try by using youtube first.

From what I've seen people are able to do quite a lot with Blender and while I don't use it, it does seem like it's used to make some high quality stuff.

Blender has really come into its own in the last couple of years. I use it for all of my modeling and animation.

Just to reiterate what Lane said: before you spend money on a course do some looking around on YouTube. There are tons of free high quality tutorials out there.

Hi!

Thanks for all the answers.

I found this course for Blender.

I'm sure this is a very place to start, because you learn everything, step-by-step.

But I'm agreed with Lane. YouTube is also a very good place to start. It's a lot of examples there. :-)
